So I went from 35 to a goal of 50. And I'm 40 of 50 right now! I would love to end up reading close to 70 this year, but I'll have to see how the next few months go. :) "
Thank you! :D You're doing great as well! It feels really good when we can bump it up.
I'm sure you can do it! I'll cheer for you :)

Everyone is bumping it up and I'm bumping it down. I had it to 100 but now I have it at 50... But I'm halfway done. I'm hoping that I can maybe reach to 75.

Thanks! :D I'll be cheering for you too!
@IIsen
That's okay too! I had a goal that I couldn't manage last year and the year before and it really stressed me out. I lowered my goal to a more manageable number for this year and ended up really surprising myself! :) Plus it feels better to start low. (Or so I think.)
Yes. Idk which year was it, maybe 2014? I set my goal as 250 books. It kinda became stressful instead of fun, and I became obsessed.
I did surpass it in the end, 'cuz my honey leant me a lot of comics/graphic novels, but still I don't advise it to anyone. If you're super busy, it's just another thing on your mind.

Part of the reason why I tend to deliberately set lower goals now. I am terrible at guessing how busy I'll be throughout the year and don't want it to be something to stress about. But still have a sizable amount that makes me proud when I reach it.
I've become super content with just outdoing my original goal as much as I can instead of increasing it once I hit it. I just love the idea that I am doing so much better than I anticipated.
Currently sitting at 69/35 for 2017

That's great, Becca! :D
We never do know what life's gonna bring...
I like to raise it up as I go until it's at least at 100, if possible. Idk, I have these quirks :P

You go, Celia!
I noticed you were doing pretty well during the Spring Cleaning's challenge, when the group started :)
One does have to keep oneself entertained and keep the mind active. Also, if you can't do what you like on your retirement, when will you?

Thank you Regsly. I LOVE the challenges. It gives me a focus on how to attack my to read list. I do plan to complete the June challenge too... probably in Sept.
I don't know if I'll be able to complete some of the tasks, because I don't seem to have books with a farmer as a main character currently or any books about hacking & stuff, for example.
So I actually struggled to fit the series I had already started to the challenge and spent quite some time searching amongst my books. Let's see how it goes. I'm not that concerned.
I'm planning to do some of the tasks twice, since it is allowed, so it'll still be worth it.
But if you do finish by September, that's still quite a feat.

Heart Shaped Hack
When Kate Watts abandoned her law career to open a food pantry in Northeast Minneapolis, she never dreamed it would be this difficult. Facing the heartbreaking prospect of turning hungry people away, she is grateful for the anonymous donations that begin appearing at the end of each month. Determined to identify and thank her secret benefactor, she launches a plan and catches Ian —a charismatic hacker with a Robin Hood complex—in the act.
Oh, thank you so much! I actually own the Bridges of Madison County, but my edition's synopsis never mentions anything about farmers, and to be honest, I don't remember a lot of details about the film anymore, so I wouldn't have known any better. This really helps <3

I can't decide whether to stick with a small goal that I can overcome easily like I have the last few years or set an actual challenge for myself. The other option is to change my goal as I go along but that just doesn't really vibe with me.

I personally haven't thought of that yet, but that's because I'm still really hoping I'll manage to complete my goal for this year xD
That's a difficult question... You could challenge yourself indeed, by setting a bigger goal, but it sucks when you won't be able to complete it :( I think it really depends on your reading habits as well though. I personally like to challenge myself to read approximately a book per week, so my goal for this year was 50 books. But if you would like to challenge yourself to read more books a week, you could step up your goal :)

I've also just started book blogging so a solid goal will help me reading consistently. Oh so I'm telling myself haha.
I know that with an actual goal I will have a freak out somewhere mid year. Buuuuut, I guess that's part of the fun.
@Becca - Wow, you read so many books already, good job! :D
Well, yes, I always freak out as well then xD
Didn't know you had a book blog! I'll check it out :)

I first had a goal of 100 and than I raised it to 125, but now I am just going to leave it at that.

I have a question, do you guy s participate in any big yearly challenges? I really want to get into at least one, maybe two next year and am wondering where to look.
I'm already thinking of Book Riot's Read Harder challenge (because I happily receive 12 emails from them each day).
I think I've done a good job of taking advantage of small blocks of min..."
