Carolyn (cmastfalk) | 16 comments Fellow authors and I have been adding books to a list that consists of awardees from our writers organization. However, the list description is inaccurate. We'd like to correct that but the person who created the list is unknown to us and has been inactive on Goodreads since 2013. Can we have that description updated? Is it possible to turn list ownership over to an active Goodreads member? Thank you.

Elizabeth (Alaska) What description do you need/want? Any librarian can update it.

List are not owned by the user who started them. They are community resources.

Carolyn (cmastfalk) | 16 comments Thank you. The description should read:

The purpose of the Catholic Writers Guild Seal of Approval is to help Catholic bookstores and venues in their determination of the Catholicity of a work. This reassurance from a professional organization can assist authors in marketing and promoting their works. Books are also judged by their editorial integrity as well. Books that are not professionally edited or publication-ready are not eligible the Seal of Approval.

Authors looking to reach a Catholic audience, but whose books do not qualify for an imprimatur (like fiction), or authors who do not have access to the process to get an Imprimatur, can submit their book for the SoA. It provides a tangible reassurance to readers and bookstore owners that the book does support Catholic beliefs and values; and in the case that it does not, it gives the author some useful feedback.

Readers can be assured that SoA books will not offend their faith and have a certain level of editorial quality.

Store owners can be assured that they can stock the book on their shelves, host the author for a signing, etc. without compromizing their appearance or mission as a faithful Catholic apostolate.

In a case such as this, where the person is not an active Goodreads member, does it just remain as it is with us relying on librarians to make changes?

It has always been such. List creators, unless they are librarians, cannot edit a list.

I apologize. In the back and forth I missed that you had provided this. Change made.

While I was at the site, I saw that the organization has an award, and I added the posted winners to the site.

If you care to post when new winners are announced, we can keep that updated. You can create a thread in the Awards folder.

Thank you!

We can certainly send the updates when the time comes.

How do readers find the Awards pages? I can't seem to find them, other them from your link obviously.

Renske | 12222 comments In the drop down menu 'browse' then 'explore' and then and then on the right side of the page, nearly at the bottom you can find the awards.

Also, on any book page that has an award, the award itself is clickable. On the right side of the resulting award page is a short list of awards and a "more" link, which also takes you to the main award page.

There is a search on the main awards page, but it is case sensitive. You don't need to enter the entire award name to get results. In your case, you might enter "Catholic" and all of the awards that have that in their name will be returned for browsing.
