My husband, although a type 2, would definitely imterpret the digestive rules the same way you have Kelly!!

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments why is this even a question? Chocolate side up. Who wants to bite into bland biscuit as the first shot to the brain?

Phill Featherstone (phillf) | 25 comments One of life's great mysteries (and disappointments) is why you only have chocolate on one side. If they put chocolate on both sides this whole heated controversy, which is dividing families and ruining friendships, would be avoided!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I like your thinking, Phill.

Chris Robb (chrisrobb) | 1408 comments Genius Phil!

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Two biscuits, chocolate facing inwards, with a melted marshmallow squished in the middle. Can't go wrong with s'mores!!

Individual biscuits, chocolate up so it doesn't melt all over the place.

Phill Featherstone (phillf) | 25 comments Marshmallow! Ugh!! Sorry - each to their own, but they're definitely not my scene.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Sorry Claire but that is so not a S'more.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Is it a S'less?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments A S'not.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Urgh! Get a tissue!

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments It's as close to a s'more as I'm prepared to attempt with a bunch of small people!! Especially involving tealights!
And I've no idea where to get Graham's crackers from in the UK to try the real thing.
I have to be in the right mood for marshmallow, but there's something about a campfire that encoirages them :)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I found graham crackers in a shop in Cardiff once. You can get them off amazon, too.

You should try banana boats with your troupe, Claire.

Slice a banana lengthwise, stuff it with marshmallows and broken up bits of chocolate (or your choice of candy bar) wrap in foil and set it over hot coals until it's all gooey.

Phill Featherstone (phillf) | 25 comments Please can we stop this discussion of marshmallows? It's making me nauseous. Chocolate, yah, bananas, cool, but marshmallows, ugh!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Don't anyone give Phill a wagon wheel.

message 67: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments It was only a few weeks ago that I learned marshmallow is a plant! (marsh mallow...) although apparently they generally use artificial flavourings now in those foamy things, instead of boiling up the plant roots.

message 68: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3334 comments Yes I saw it on TV a while back Tim; it used to be the real plant when they first made them. But I've never like marshmallow anyway, though I don't think my phobia's as bad as Phil's.

message 69: by Phill (new)

Phill Featherstone (phillf) | 25 comments Big question. Why don't they put the chocolate on BOTH sides and save all this agonising?

message 70: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Fierstein (goodreadscomwendyfierstein) | 15 comments I love chocolate anything. So chocolate should be on the tongue so I can taste it. Hmmmmm!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm with you there, Wendy.

We had banana boats last weekend when we were camping.

The kids made them.

Actually, the kids did everything from gathering the wood for the fire, to lighting it, tending it, preparing the snacks.

We had a few adults who hovered a bit, but generally the kids were able to just get on with it.

Big pet peeve of mine is adults shouting 'you'll get hurt!' at children.

Yes, they will. They'll learn from it.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Me now humming banana boat song.

Love the Stan Freberg version - especially the verse about spiders........

A beautiful bunch
Of ripe banana
Daylight come and
Me wan go home

Hide the deadly
Black tarantula
Daylight come and
Me wan go home

(No, man, don`t sing about
Spiders, I mean, like
I don`t dig spiders)

Tim | 8539 comments Ahh, Stan Freberg. Haven't heard that in ages!

Lisa Marie Gabriel (lisamariegabriel) | 1066 comments The chocolate should definitely be on top unless you are making a sandwich in which case the bottom one should be up and the top one down. Personally I like two separate, one to nibble delicately for as long as I can, the other to dunk and polish off in three bites.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Three? You must buy the extra large ones. ;)

Lisa Marie Gabriel (lisamariegabriel) | 1066 comments I exercise unbelievable self control, otherwise it would be two. :)
