Zoe Dawson (zoedawson) | 191 comments I am eliminating the series Going to the Dogs 2: The Alphas and combining the books into Going to the Dogs. At present, I have also removed the four novellas out of the series and they are now listed on their own as they are supplemental material to the first four dog books (Should be renamed Going to the Dogs Novellas.). Therefore, I will need to renumber the books and add new covers (These are exactly the same covers, but the numbering and series name has changed.).

Piggy Bank Blues (becomes Going to the Dogs #5) Piggy Bank Blues
Holding Still (becomes Going to the Dogs #6) Holding Still
Louder Than Words (becomes Going to the Dogs #7) Louder Than Words

Zoe Dawson (zoedawson) | 191 comments Could I get assistance with this? Thanks!

message 3: by David (new)

David Raz (davidraz) | 13124 comments I'll start working on it. We will need to add alternate-cover editions (ACEs) as well.

David Raz (davidraz) | 13124 comments As the author you can set the default edition. Simply click on one of the links below and follow these instructions.

Book 1 ACEs: Kindle ebook
Book 2 ACEs: Kindle ebook (there was a duplicate ebook edition I listed for deletion, so these may not yet be combined with each other)
Book 3 ACEs: Kindle ebook (same issue)
Book 4: Since the book wasn't published yet, we may be able to bypass this ACE hassle. Have any advance copies, paper or electronic, been sent out with the cover currently on Goodreads?

David Raz (davidraz) | 13124 comments The Novellas ACEs were already added about a month ago by another librarian. I don't think they should be a series on their own. Companion novellas are handled by adding to the same series with decimal numbers, just as they are now.

I removed the "Going to the Dogs 2: The Alphas" series and added a note about its former existence to the "Going to the Dogs" series. The latter's description now reads:

Books 5-8 were formerly books 1-4 of a separate series: "Going to the Dogs 2: The Alphas".

Reading order by chronology/content:
Book 1, Leashed: Callie and Owen
Book 1.5, Tangled: A companion novella to Leashed, Going to the Dogs, #1 (Callie and Owen)
Book 2, Groomed for Murder: Brooke and Drew
Book 2.5, Handled: A companion novella to Groomed for Murder Going to the Dogs, #2 (Brooke and Drew)
Book 3, Hounded: Poe and Jared
Book 3.5, Fetched: A companion novella to Hounded, Going to the Dogs, #3 (Poe and Jared)
Book 4, Collared: Harper and Caleb
Book 4.5, Captured: A companion novella to Collared, Going to the Dogs, #4 (Harper and Caleb)

By Publication: (The author says to avoid spoilers read in this order.)
1. Leashed
2. Groomed for Murder
3. Hounded
4. Collared
5. Fetched
6. Tangled
7. Handled
8. Captured

Zoe Dawson (zoedawson) | 191 comments Just to clarify. The novellas are supplemental material that can be skipped if the reader chooses to do so. It won't affect the progression of the series in the least. However, the material in the novellas will add to the richness of the experience. It would be fine to have them on their own, but I do understand the numbering policy of Goodreads and if there are no exceptions in this case, it's fine.

I don't see an alternate version for What Matters Most. This book isn't out yet, but I can upload the new cover so that it's correct in the listing. Or do you need to do that with the new cover. Thanks for all your help.

David Raz (davidraz) | 13124 comments I addressed What Matters Most above on message #5, let me repeat:

Book 4: Since the book wasn't published yet, we may be able to bypass this ACE hassle. Have any advance copies, paper or electronic, been sent out with the cover currently on Goodreads?

If not, please provide the correct cover and I'll simply replace it.

Zoe Dawson (zoedawson) | 191 comments I see. I'm so sorry I missed that. No, nothing has been sent out. The book isn't written yet. How would you like me to deliver the cover.

Thanks.

message 10: by Zoe (new)

Zoe Dawson (zoedawson) | 191 comments Also, on the novellas. Fetched was written first and it will be very confusing to a reader to read Tangled first. Like I said above, these are not companion novellas, but supplemental material written after Collared. It would be so much better to have them listed after Collared at the very least and listed as Fetched, Tangled, Handled and Captured 4.1-4.4.

Thanks.

David Raz (davidraz) | 13124 comments The easiest way to provide the cover is through https://www.goodreads.com/photo/new

It will add the cover as "more photos" to your profile, and I can get them from there. Or provide a link to some other place where it is.

I hear what you say about the novellas, but I am hesitant. I'll deal with it tomorrow, unless some more experienced librarians would like to step in on this subject.

Zoe Dawson (zoedawson) | 191 comments Okay, it's uploaded and thanks for everything.

David Raz (davidraz) | 13124 comments I gave this more thought. There are two ways to sort a series: by publication order or by chronological order. What you are asking for is to sort by publication order and I see no reason not to do this. If someone thinks otherwise, they can create a second series for the chronological order. I hope my reasoning is sound and no other librarian will revert this.
Here is the series. See if the description is correct.

I used the cover you uploaded: What Matters Most, you can remove it if you wish.

Zoe Dawson (zoedawson) | 191 comments This makes me one happy author. Thank you, David for being so thoughtful in this case. I'm all about the readers and this will make it much better for them to understand the progression of the story.. The cover looks great! Cheers!
