Ian Jarvis | 52 comments Dracula wasn’t the first fictional vampire, but the novel popularised these creatures in literature. It also changed their image overnight, from a mouldering, blood-drinking corpse to an attractive and sensual gentleman who can mix with humanity. Where did Bram Stoker write the book and which locations inspired him? Take a pictorial tour around these places and visit them yourself.

Perry Lake | 335 comments Love the pics, Ian. I'd seen some of these (or similar ones) before, but I was very pleasantly surprised to see a photo of the wreck of the actual Dmitri. Great job!

That would be a great tour, maybe on a larger trip to visit Transylvania as well.

Ian Jarvis | 52 comments Hi Aaron. I've visited Transylvania and I can really recommend it. The scenery is superb, as you can imagine, it's quite easy to travel around in a rental car and not expensive. The Golden Crown hotel in Bistritz (where Harker stayed) is there and they even have a Jonathan Harker Lounge now. The Borgo Pass is amazing and at the head is a fairly new Castle Dracula Hotel, built like a dark and sinister Cinderella's castle. You can also visit Dracula's birthplace and Castle Bran, which the Romanian tourist board really push as a Dracula location, but in reality has little to do with him. As a bonus, the Cheeky Girls were filming there when I visited - the famous twins who can sing almost as well as Dracula's wolves.

Marie | 4028 comments I really enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading all the information. It is especially rewarding to look it all over since I read the book earlier this year. Really neat! :)

That sounds really cool! I've heard there's a vampire theme park there now too.

Ian Jarvis | 52 comments It wouldn't surprise me. Vlad the Impaler/Dracula is their favourite tourist draw
