I didn't really love any of the characters; I just really liked the themes in this book.
Mae seemed super intelligent at first but she allowed herself to be manipulated by her superiors. To be fair, she didn't seem to realise that this was happening or that she was sacrificing her morals. So maybe she wasn't that smart to begin with haha. Annie seemed very much similar to Mae in that way and so did everyone else at The Circle.
People like Mercer, Ty/Kalden and Mae's parents put their foot down when The Circle tried to infiltrate their lives... sort of. They kind of passively rejected the new technology. Did they think it was futile to actively reform against the massive corporation? I guess Ty tried but obviously was unsuccessful! What else could he have done?!

I only like the themes of this book and even then it annoys me.
4.5 stars!
I LOVED the theme of the book so that made it such a high rating for me but the fact that majority of the characters were so damn annoying took a .5 star off of it.
I agree that Mae let herself be manipulated into becoming a huge part of the Circle but I think she was wanting to be a person that became a little clog in the big wheel because before she got this job she was floating around without any idea on her future so at her young age and with her personality she was always going to become a sheep type and like everyone else.
Yeah I think Mercer left things a little late but it was cute that he tried hahaha and got a little visit from Mae that went downhill...and I knew Ty would be unsuccessful so I'm so happy with how it turned out.
One person I did hate was Francis. What a pathetic, piece of shit. Even worse than the usual people working there.

And I feel really sorry for her parents, and the fact that they had to cower on the floor and had that pot on. I'm nearly finished too.
Yes! I totally agree and I do feel so sorry for the invasion of privacy her parents had to deal with because she really thought she was helping but they hated having their home invaded and having all of those pathetic people online commenting on their lives and getting angry because they didn't respond to them!

Your thoughts on the book in five words or less?
