John Lefevere (johnlefevere) | 21 comments I believe that I saw a discussion thread on this topic in the past, but I checked back about six months and can't find it again. I was planning on setting up a LinkedIn author/promotional page for my books and thought that I had seen other authors who have done this. I had a LinkedIn page in the past & it was successful in bringing me business and getting contacts. However, several years ago when I retired from law practice, I shut it down completely and have no account now.

My questions are really these: if I set up a promotional page, I won't need to include my education, degrees, etc as I did the first time. Does LinkIn permit members to have author pages (as Facebook does)? If you have set up such a page, have your seen any measurable sales as a result? Comments and insights welcome!

Ken (kendoyle) | 364 comments There are no author pages on LinkedIn, but you can list publications on your regular profile page.

Personally, I don't like seeing promotions in my LinkedIn feed. I use it for business networking, although I don't use it as much these days, ever since they changed the design and removed the ability to sort your home page feed.

Thanks, Ken - The same thing has happened regarding promotions on Facebook feeds. I posted my book trailer to a number of Amazon & other groups and stayed on their feeds. This results in spending a long time scrolling through book ads & promotions in order to pick out personal posts from friends and acquaintances - but can't really complain since I'm utilizing feeds for the same reason. About 20% of my Author Page "likes" come from people I don't know, so something's working.
