1. Are you enjoying the book so far?
Actually, yes. More than I expected. I remember trying to read this book at least twice when I was younger, but couldn't remember anything at all about it. I couldn't even remember if I had ever finished. I'm pretty sure I got about halfway, felt like I had no idea what was going on, and gave up. It's been pretty good so far though.
2. What did you think when the book started, "It was a dark and stormy night"? Did you consider it cliche?
It is a bit of a cliche, but I can't remember ever seeing it used in other books so it didn't bother me at all.
3. If you learned that there is such a thing as a tesseract, would you be more like Charles Wallace and Calvin, who easily accept it, or more like Meg, who has trouble understanding the concept?
Probably more like Meg. I kind of understood it the way it was explained, so I might be able to just accept it like the boys did, but I think it would be pretty confusing.
4. What do you think will happen when Meg, Charles Wallace & Calvin go into CENTRAL Central Intelligence? What do you think the IT is that the paperboy mentioned lives in the capital?
I think they will find Meg and Charles Wallace's father, and battle through the dark/IT to get him back home safely. When I saw "IT", and especially after seeing the mechanical way the people in the town behaved, my first thought was IT as in computer specialists...maybe that's just the result of having a boyfriend who works in that field. I think it's some kind of complex computer system.
5. New question: What were your first impressions of Meg and Charles Wallace?

2. What did you think when the book started, "It was a dark and stormy night"? Did you consider it cliche? Since it was published in 1962 I forgave the cliche.
3. If you learned that there is such a thing as a tesseract, would you be more like Charles Wallace and Calvin, who easily accept it, or more like Meg, who has trouble understanding the concept? I'm sure I would be more like Meg
4. What do you think will happen when Meg, Charles Wallace & Calvin go into CENTRAL Central Intelligence? What do you think the IT is that the paperboy mentioned lives in the capital? I'm hoping they will find their Dad. The IT could be their Dad I guess.
5. Answer the question posed by the person above you! Well since my kids are kind of more brainiacs than other kids I kind of pictured them a little like my kids but Meg is definitely more whiny. Charles seems like he has a lot of hidden gifts that will come out in the book.
Are you getting any of the Mrs. Who, Whatsit or Which confused like I am?

Yes.
2. What did you think when the book started, "It was a dark and stormy night"? Did you consider it cliche?
I thought it was nice that it started with a literary reference.
3. If you learned that there is such a thing as a tesseract, would you be more like Charles Wallace and Calvin, who easily accept it, or more like Meg, who has trouble understanding the concept?
I think if I was a child, I would have easily accepted it, especially since the explanation was very simple. However, if I had heard it now as an adult, I definitely would need more details and explanations before I can understand the concept.
4. What do you think will happen when Meg, Charles Wallace & Calvin go into CENTRAL Central Intelligence? What do you think the IT is that the paperboy mentioned lives in the capital?
I think Meg, Charles, and Calvin will get captured by whoever is making the town people live in fear and behave the way they do. When I first saw IT, I immediately thought of Information technology, and then I thought it might be what the bad guy ruling the planet is called.
5. Are you getting any of the Mrs. Who, Whatsit or Which confused like I am?
Yes! I keep getting confused which is the youngest one and which is the oldest. I don't get the middle one mixed up because she always speaks in quotes.
What do you think of the Christian references in the book?

It started a bit slow, it is starting to pick up a bit. I like it so far.
2. What did you think when the book started, "It was a dark and stormy night"? Did you consider it cliche?
It is a bit cliche but considering the time period, it makes sense. Plus, i think it sets the tone for the book, that not everything will be happy.
3. If you learned that there is such a thing as a tesseract, would you be more like Charles Wallace and Calvin, who easily accept it, or more like Meg, who has trouble understanding the concept?
I think i would be like Meg, since science is not my subject and i have a hard time grasping some of the concepts.
4. What do you think will happen when Meg, Charles Wallace & Calvin go into CENTRAL Central Intelligence? What do you think the IT is that the paperboy mentioned lives in the capital?
I think something bad is going to happen, as the people seem to be very frightened of the place. I have no idea what It is. (I already finished the book but i had no idea what IT was at this point.
5. What do you think of the Christian references in the book?
I dont mind them at all. They are direct, but i don't thunk it takes away from the overall story.
What do you think of the quotes from Mrs Whatsit?
