Linda (rlinda19) | 25 comments I just finished the book "Angle of Repose" by Wallace Stegner. It actually fits into 2 of the categories for me: award winner and book set in home state. Since I had a hard time finding books set in Idaho (What?! This glorious state needs more books! haha) I decided to count it as that. The whole book isn't set in Idaho, but about 1/3 of it is I'd say. And that's about as good as I can find!
All of that being said.....I didn't really like this book. ha. So too bad for me and Idaho. ;)

K (auntiek) | 16 comments I've started this book before, mostly because I love the title, but didn't get very far before I abandoned it. But, I'm a fickle reader, so who knows!

Linda (rlinda19) | 25 comments Yes. It wasn't really a page turner....but since I was listening to it on overdrive I didn't have to bother with turning the pages. ha. I just let it play on and on and on.....and on as I folded my endless laundry. But I could have forgiven it for being just simply boring and long. But I actually found far too many incongruences with the plot and characters and it had no point and it even made me mad sometimes. So unfortunately it got 1 star from me.

Linda (rlinda19) | 25 comments PLUS!! I just read from another reviewer that this book was based on an actual person!! A lady in Idaho that lived about this time (late 1800's) named Mary Hallock Foote who was a famous artist of the time. Apparently the author even went so far as to quote some of her actual letters as his own writing in the book! With no acknowledgment whatsoever. Isn't that blatant plagarism??? And this book won the Pulitzer? Sheesh!
