When fifteen-year-old Zoe bounces tonight, she’s after her first kiss. The lure of Kirk and the football team’s beach party withers, though, when unfamiliar men appear in her driveway and, concealed, she spies them mystically abduct her family. While they hunt her, she’s blindsided with the most unlikely but inescapable truth. She’s a freak, a hybrid—half human, half ET—shape-shifter.

This new reality not only contorts her worldview, it erupts with questions over her own conception and, more important, besieges her every hope of a normal future with Kirk. With her pursuers drawing near, however, she knows she can’t just do nothing. Yet, the one thing she needs more than a hint of where her family has been taken—courage—is as obscure as her prospects of success. Now, her heart and mind ravaged by dread and self-doubt, she faces a destiny from which she may never return.
