Doug was an unknown factor. We didn't know his true motives. If to support the Millhouses, he could hold him as a hostage. If the verdict was innocent, he would have just dumped him. With guilty, Ford could have been leverage.
I actually didn't think it was about anything other than pure revenge on Daphne. You can't change the verdict once it's announced so not sure how you can use that against her once the trial is over.
I hadn't a clue, even though I knew it was directed at Daphne. It made the slow reveal much more interesting because I was dying to know the end game.
