Looking for a set of books can only remember in the first a nurse realises her patient has been killed when she follows the doctor moving him she is caught and taken to a secret underground lab. The patent turns into a beast she escapes and gets help from a paranormal team who rescue the young patient.
In book 2 the young patients sister has moved to be near as he trains to become part of the team the diner she works in blows up and she is trapped in the rubble the team get her out and her brothers mentor is her mate, he keeps her safe. the bomber ends up being her ex and he feeds on her fear

Linda, can you tell us more about the patient in book 1 - gender, age, what kind of beast does s/he turn into, was s/he turned into a beast/shifter through experiments or was born that way, etc.? So the nurse thought the patient was killed but s/he actually turned into a beast and escaped?

Patient was a young policeman I think called Logan Nurse noticed a doctor giving him an injection and a couple of hours later he died she followed the porters taking him away and ended up in an underground lab. Where she was shown another beast/man and told that was what the patient would turn into

Is the heroine definitely a nurse - or perhaps a doctor, paramedic, genetic researcher, etc.?
