I remember when talk radio was a heaven for authors to promote and discuss their books. The late David Brudnoy would interview authors as well as do the typical political subjects in Boston on his WBZ five hour talk show. He was great.
Also, Brain Lamb of C-SPAN's Booknotes program was excellent. It was one full hour of book discussion. I would watch that show and when it was over feel like I have read the book.
I agree with you about Brian Lamb. It's geeky but C-SPAN's Booknotes was must-see TV for me back when it was on. I also enjoy watching many of the programs on their weekend BookTV programming when it is on, but Booknotes is still the best. I liked how Brian Lamb was able to let the authors talk but was still pretty firm in keeping the interview going. Also, I always felt that Brian Lamb had read the book they were discussing. that was a great show...I found many of my favorites books and subjects of study through that program.
