Shoshanah Shear (shoshanahs) | 33 comments Hi

My book Healing Your Life Through Activity: An Occupational Therapist's Story is dedicated in the merit of my late grandfather. My mother and husband helped me with editing the book and when it came close to the anniversary of the passing of my grandfather, my mother was excited for me to get the book out. I ordered 10 copies, hoping that I had done enough editing. The books went astray and it took ages to get to me. In the end, Create Space kindly sent me another set. However, no sooner had the replacement arrived than the ones that went missing did too.

When I finally read the book, I noticed quite a number of errors that I have since corrected. The improved book is now up for sale. I did manage to share some of the books with friends to get their comments. However, I still have 10 books and am not sure what to do with them.

The content is good but there are some errors. Does anyone have ideas or do I need to just shelve them?

The joys of a newbie indie author.

Thanks for your help

Shoshanah

Unfortunately, the story may repeat itself...
If the errors are something really minor, then you can keep sharing the remaining copies, I guess, with a proviso that it's an unpolished version though -:)

Shoshanah Shear (shoshanahs) | 33 comments What does it mean that the story would repeat itself?

Those I have shared it with were told that it is unpolished and a work in progress. However, I am concerned that two of them wanted to then share with others. Nice to know they liked the content but that is why I am nervous to share further. Sad to waste the copies.

Marie Silk | 1025 comments I had the same kind of experience with my first order of 10. I sent some of them out for reviews and giveaways *cringe* and now have two left. I don't think I will use them for anything other than display.

Maybe give them away to friends and let them know it's not the final product. Since you write nonfic, imo it's probably best to only sell the corrected books.

M.L. Giving them away with the caveat they are not final sounds like a good idea; for selling though it would be the corrected copies. It's also good though that some wanted to share even knowing it's a work in progress: it didn't interfere with them wanting to share it.

Roger Jackson You could write on the title page, "This is an unedited version" and then sign it. The recipient will have an autographed copy, but they will know it is not the final version.
