What did you think about the beginning of the story where Sam loses his sister? Did it appropriately set the tone for what was to come?

[Anita]

I was devastated for Sam. The guilt he must have felt was overwhelming. It did set up that Sam had a bone deep reason for revenge.

[Jonetta]

So was I, Anita! We had no way of seeing that coming and it hooked me into the story immediately. And, I got the ruthlessness of Nader in the moment.

[Robin]

I was very surprised with the way the story started. It definitely gave Sam a reason for revenge against Nader.

[Jonetta]

It was heartbreaking.

[Anita]

It showed that Nader had no limits. Nothing was off the table for this guy to get what he wanted.

[Laura]

Horrific and it set the tone that anything goes.

[Jonetta]

That it does.

It definitely sets the tone for the book and why Sam is set on going after Nader. He wasn't just seeking revenge for his himself but also his parents and his niece who lost her parents way too early.
