I felt like there is something else hidden in Jo's past besides the affair with Sandy? Just a hunch. I thought she mentioned bringing to light something that happened a year or so earlier than her affair with Sandy. The main reason I think it's something else is that Cork already knows about the affair. Perhaps I read that wrong? Can it be a mix of both. Practical when it comes to the children, selfish in that she might not want it to impact on her job. She is career driven to me.
It felt extremely selfish to me at first but then I could understand her insecurities. It also helped that she opened up to Cork about it and let him know the basis for her feelings.
I already pretty much answered this for Question A - that's what I get for being long winded. :-)Basically, I think most of the fear came out of a fear that the marriage couldn't withstand having the past being thrust into their faces again. She doesn't want to lose this new, fragile chance. Her career is a concern, yes, but mainly I think she's afraid of losing Cork and her family.
I like Jo. Normally I don't care for the cheater but in this case both parties thought they were the only one being unfaithful so they're on equal footing for me.
I gotta say, though, that Cork took up with Molly when he and Jo had separated. Jo took up with Sandy while they were still together so, maybe I'm splitting hairs but I hold Jo more responsible in the original fracture of their marriage.
I look at it as they may have still been living under the same roof but they were already emotionally separated. Not an excuse for either of them, because unless a couple agrees that it's okay for them to see other people during a separation, it's cheating to me whether or not they're living together.
