It worked! (the spoiler tags, that is...)

I was really disappointed by this one. It started out so well, and I was super excited, because if you..."
got what u meant. It was a kinda dissapointing work. no offense to anyone.

King's worst book by far, and I say that as someone who would give most of the King books I've read 3 to 5 stars. This book is an embarassment to phoning it in. *rimshot*
I checked it out of the library and still wanted my money back.

I read 2/3 of it and set it aside out of boredom. I didn't finish it until about an year later.
Not a dreadful book, but far from King's best work.

I think it's because they don't have monsters or aren't typical "horror", and that's what people expect going into it. But you're right, King's writing is the thing that keeps me coming back to him.
I'll be picking up Cell soon, I hope you like it. Post back here and let us know.

I know of that but there are also how many of Sai Kings books they have said they are going to make into movies that fall through....The Dark Tower and Ron Howard to be exact...lol

No there's a lot of gore and violence throughout the novel. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I've gotten a little further in, still not too bad and, as I had hoped, his writing has kept me hooked.

One thing I have always loved about King is that he makes me care about his characters. To be perfectly frank, if any of the three get mullered in the next chapter I genuinely wouldn't give a damn.
I really hope that it picks up in the 2nd half.

Potential Spoiler:
What frustrated me was what caused The Pulse was never explained, and neither was any of Jordan's theories being right or wrong.

And I think both King and Cormac Macarthy write beyond anything any of us can ever aspire to.
The Road is greatness and one of the finest pieces of modern literature ever written, and that's not compared to Cell or anything else. It just is.
