I haven't read it yet, but I do plan to do so. I am also seeing it show up in various places. It reminds me of All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely, my favourite YA read of 2016. Have you read it? I now read everything Jason Reynolds writes. He also gives great interviews!
The novel — one of several new children’s books that use fiction to address police shootings of unarmed black teenagers — debuted at the top of The New York Times’s Young Adult best-seller list, and has drawn ecstatic praise from critics, librarians, book sellers and prominent young-adult novelists. John Green, the author of “The Fault in Our Stars,” called the work “a stunning, brilliant, gut-wrenching novel that will be remembered as a classic of our time.”
I just placed a hold on this book through the library and I'm looking forward to reading it. It would be a great book for a unit that connects self to community and the issues that may lie within your community. I live and teach within the North End of Winnipeg, so this would be a good connecting book.

I am Still anxiously waiting for my copy but until then, I'm curious if anyone has read this book yet or plans to and If you have any thoughts or ideas for using it in the classroom?
