I thought it was horrible that he lost his memory, but it seems like he's going to slowly get it all back, right? So I guess its a good thing, I mean he HATED being a vampire, (not to mention he use to be vegetarian) now he can go to the institute and stuff, and he wont have to watch Izzy grow old and die, though poor Magnus will be the only one left from this series when they all die ;( I think it happened for a reason, a good reason that I can live with, hopefully he gets the memories back and knows how brave he can be, how much a hero he is.
I thought that it was not needed. I mean if she would have written out that part I thnk that it would have still been fine. The part about the memory not the immortality. I was happy that he lost his immortality but if he was just going to get his memories back what was the point.
I agree with you. I didn't think it was needed. I didn't need to be stabbed in the heart that bad. Though I'm glad Magnus found a way to fix it
I'll admit when Simon lost his memory I was shaking a little. But he's shadowhunter now and the rest will fill him in on what happened. I love how he remembered biting Jace. Great bromance. I wanna know how Jace got the skeptron though. Didn't explain that
I would have likes to know that to. It's like he just went through the portal and came back with it with out even trying.
While I loved the book, it was full of inexplicable moments. You're packing for a potentially suicidal mission to Edom and you pack a condom? Kinda odd but funny
I hate that there was so much not need crap like that whole arguing with the demon to leave and stuff and they didn't really explain what the skeptron was or what the actual terms for the faeries were. Kinda frustrating!
It's one of those books where when you're reading it you always want the next bit so you don't really stop and ask questions. But when you look back the plot holes are right there.
I agree with both of you. With the skeptron it was like all he had to do was hold it up and bam they where gone. I know there was more to it that that. It was a great book but it was missing some things. And then the jace and clary having sex, I felt like it wasn't really needed there in that situation
It is a little disapppointing because I loved the other series. I cried. I laughed. I did both at the same time. I watched stars align and I reread it atleast 12 times because it was so beautiful but now I feel kind of let down. :( It wasn't the worst ending that there could have been but I feel like I need some serious questions answered before I will feel like this is as good as her other series!
Jace and Clary having sex was akin to Will and Tessa. Probably gonna die. Be with the one you love kind of thing. But yeah the skeptron played a big part and she just brushed it off. Although given that she has at least 2 Nephilim series to go it's possible that the answers will be forthcoming.
I found the dreams they had when they first got into Edom to be telling and heartbreaking.
Yes those dreams were not something that I saw coming but I really liked them in the story. I hope that those things are addresses in the next few series. Cassandra does a very nice job of entwining all of these characters without it being to much like the other stories and that wassomething I really enjoy. After obsessing over the epilogue of Clockwork Princess for over a year I was happy to see her bring these people back!
The dreams were really good insights into their characters. I thoughts Jaces was quite terrifying then Clary's explanation made sense of it amazingly well. Well apart from the few little surprise bits, I don't think there will be much about the original characters in TDA. It seems like she's trying to move the focus onto Emma and the Blackthorns. With Tessa and Jem watching over them of course.
It seems the dreams will remain pleasant surprises that show us what there deepest desires were.
I thought they were really awesome because that is rarely something that you see in books anymore. Deepest desires are usually avoided because it make it seem fake but I loved how she worked that in there. It also made the characters stand back and look at themselves and ask "Is this really what I want?" I really liked that!
Very true. It opened up a can of worms that most authors prefer not to deal with. But she handled it quite well. The dreams reinforced the reality. When Simon was talking about his dream you could practically feel Isabelle growing mistrustful again. But when he finished and said "my soul wants you" she did not have a chance. Everyone was happy and then Alec walked in and made everything funnier.
Yes that was hilarious. I really enjoyed Alecs role in this book because he went from being this scared kid in the first book who had never killed a demon to a more fearless funny character. I loved seeing tht side of him espicially to save Magnus!
Alec is easily the character that matured the most. Closely followed by Simon. More easily seen in this book than the others, epecially when he killed Meliorn. And then there were the times he shocked even Jace. Maybe it was the almost constant threat to Magnus' safety. Because up until now it's always been Alec in danger.
Isn't Simon going to be a shadow hunter? isn't that what Magnus wants to do? I think if that's the case then what happened with simon was definitely needed!
Yeah he is. When simon appeared at the wedding I assumed it meant they gave him a mark and he survived. So Magnus helped recover simons memories as well as he could.
yeah I thought so.. just wanted to make sure it wasn't my wishful thinking :-) I wonder is him and izzy are going to have children that will be in TDA aswell!
I really disagree with you all saying many things were unnecessary I believe they were necessary and if they weren't there and no one lost anything, it will seem like the other characters were stupid and their plans made no sense. I find in a lot of books authors tend to noticeably try hard to keep their character alive but In the procces making villains look stupid and naive, so I'm happy Cassie added all these 'unnecessary' things because it made the villains look smarter, and added more emotion to the book
I loved it. I was sad but also happy that I read it. And I hope that the new series will be just as good if not better than this one.
Simon God... Too much emotions, that made me see him as a hero, much more of a hero than any of the other characters... I would never sacrifice my memories... It was just AMAZING
I like simon as vampire! I really do so i'm sad about lost his immortality. Yeah its kind of cruel but i liked the idea of magnus and simon. You know magnus shoudn't be alone -btw I'm adore magnus-
Word, Magnus has done a lot for the Nephilim but at the end Simon saved them all and he sacrificed himself. He didn't want to be a vampire so I'm glad his immortality was taken from him but his memories... That broke me down.
I love this book but when Sebastian for one minute was what Jocelyn always wanted that was so emotional
