Peter Ryan (httpgoodreadscompeterryan) | 2 comments Got too fancy for a beginner. Tried to combine the print, Kindle and Kobo editions into one location, combination worked but now none of the 'Get a Copy' links functions. I'm lost on how to fix this, just went around for an hour. Any advice would be deeply appreciated. Regards, Peter

Z-squared | 8575 comments Hi Peter,

The 'get a copy' buttons are edition-specific. Therefore only the Amazon button will work on the kindle edition, only the B&N edition on the Nook ebook edition, the paperback edition will work on multiple booksellers (as long as they sell physical book formats)... you get the idea.

To make things even more complicated, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords 'get a copy' buttons work by searching the associated bookseller by ISBN. In contrast, Kobo uses the book title to search.

I edited your editions. Your paperback edition had the ISBN of the ebook, so I moved that ISBN to the ebook edition and got the ISBN for the paperback from your publisher's website. The kindle edition needed an ASIN (Amazon's proprietary ISBN equivalent for kindle editions), which I also fixed. As for Kobo, for whatever reason a search by the complete title "Wild South: Hunting & Flying..." results in an error, whereas searching only by "Wild South" brings up your book. I suspect that's a problem on the kobo end, not on Goodreads.

As far as I can tell, the paperback isn't for sale anywhere, so 'get a copy' buttons won't really work for that edition. But the kindle edition works okay, and the B&N button works on the ebook edition.
