I read it, and of my entire book club, I was the only person who actually finished it. I thought it was good. Not an easy read, but a good one.

This was somewhat a focus on them, though The Sympathizer himself was a "a spy, a sleeper, a spook, a man of two faces." The writing was fantastic, the storytelling interesting, and though I know I missed some of the perfection of the writing, the narration on audio was also perfect.
“Although every country thought itself superior in its own way, was there ever a country that coined so many “super” terms from the federal bank of its narcissism, was not only superconfident but also truly superpowerful, that would not be satisfied until it locked every nation of the world into a full nelson and made it cry Uncle Sam?”
Definitely recommended and looking forward to reading more of this author. Though I loved the audio, I think I'd "read" the next one as there are many passages worthy of highlight.
