What do you guys think make the book really unique?
I think its more of the truthfulness to it. I read it many times and every time I get excited even though i know what is going to happen. And it makes it really unique because it shows the lack of feelings we will or have. I think it is even showing now when people don't care when someone is hurt and their feelings are numb. Also the book talks about all being equal. And that is what we are trying to be. Some of us can't accept differences and think that everyone should be the same. IN a black and white world.

Dayang (ddayang) I thought that the book is really good, it opens up your mind to all the possible things that might happen around you, and it's just really satisfying to read this book. Pardon me, I'm not really good at penning my thoughts. I do hope there were more to it though. By the way, what was your interpretation of the ending?

lol its ok. I suck at making reviews my self. When i read the ending i was mad because there is no conclusion of what might have happened. but i think Jonas and Gabe made it to another community. Or maybe a world with color and music. Many think they might have died and went to after life, but i dont think so. Even though its very possible i think they didn't die.
how about you?

Troy Lane | 1 comments After reading The Giver, I feel the old man "receiver" had access to everything in the community and knew what was to become of him when his predecessor "Jonas" took over his job. Knowing that the community was going to recycle him he cleverly added memories into to Jonas that would get rid of him so he could keep his job. He even got rid of his own daughter. Such a dark story...Wonderfully put together!!
