FALLOUT by Todd Strasser
This novel follows one family that owns the only bomb shelter in their small suburban town. Set in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis, we see deeply into the lives of twelve year-old Scott’s family and neighbors after a bomb drops. A shelter meant for four now holds ten, and the survivors struggle to ration food and get along for two weeks, until they can leave their underground sanctuary and face the post-bomb town they used to know.

Overall I enjoyed this book.
At first I liked how the chapters alternated between the shelter and leading up to the bomb dropping, but it was just one of the things that seemed a bit repetitive. I found it hard to relate to either Scott or Ronnie because I found them to be two extremes with no middle ground. Scott, being the more moral one and Ronnie, always leading him into trouble. The book leads you to believe that something dramatic is going to happen but never does. At the end of the story I found myself thinking about a lot of unresolved problems and with no feeling of closure.
