Molly Martin | 8 comments I think the story is set in Southern California. The oldest daughter had an actor boyfriend who becomes famous, his new girl friend is a Disney Princess. She hides from creditors at her mom's house and takes (and looses) a job walking dogs. She has an affair with the pool cleaner who is also her mom's speed connection.

The youngest daughter goes to a religious club and becomes friends with the son of the woman who ran away with her father. She becomes pregnant, but she miscarries her baby.

Molly I moved this down to Unsolved for you. You'll get more attention paid to it down there.

When did you read this? Was it a pot-boiler, mystery or what? Where did you find it--library, bookstore, Walmart? Was it a paper book, e-book or audiobook? How did you find it--was it recommended to you, you saw a review, a "teaser" chapter in the back of another book, the cover caught your eye, or the blurb on the back of the book?

Molly Martin | 8 comments I read this book last year. It was recommended to me by friend. I bought it at either Powell's or Barns and Noble, it was paperback.

The genre is contemporary and the author is female. Another thing I remember about the book is that the end had an author's note that was a "therapy session" between the author, the mother, and the two daughters.

I remember something else: the oldest daughter was the editor of a financially unsuccessful, feminist magazine for young woman.

No response from the OP but I agree that sounds like the correct book. Moving to Solved.
