I’ve always been active too. And I’ve never lost weight with any of the “usual” weight loss plans. Trouble is if you already have a healthy lifestyle doing the same thing will give the same results which is why I had to use fortified weight loss products that could give me all the nutrition without a high calorie count.

You can’t do it until you’re ready. It’s never up to anyone else to tell you you’re ready either. I’ve worked in weight loss for 17 years. Only the person wanting to lose weight can say when they’re ready.

Thanks Angel, I’ll be fine. Just finding it a bit annoying. Kind of you to say Alex, all of us consultants have been there done that. You have to in order to become qualified. It’s one of the reasons I like the company.
Oh Amy, I do so hope your eye recovers soon. And I hope both you and Alex can find a way to lose the necessary amount of weight. We'll all cheer you on, I'm sure.
Kathy's back in the hospital: an episode of gastric bleeding that looks a lot like what she suffered in 2014 (not that anyone here knew about that, I don't think). Things are going reasonably well and we'll get through it, but this is our fourth time here since October and we're both really tired of it...

For those writing series, here's something of interest: Goodreads' editors cannot make anthology series for display on Goodreads' author profiles because such anthologies, in general, do not appear to meet Goodreads’ policy for series. Typically, a series needs to share common characters or take place in a common fictional universe.I found this out when I attempted to have a new series created for my flash fiction anthologies. What's strange is that they created a series for my short-story anthologies, The Road Less Taken. I wonder if they'll now take that series "down."
Dale wrote: "Kathy's back in the hospital: an episode of gastric bleeding that looks a lot like what she suffered in 2014 (not that anyone here knew about that, I don't think). I hope this stay is a short one, and that you are both able to return home, where true healing takes place.
Theodore wrote: "For those writing series, here's something of interest: Goodreads' editors cannot make anthology series for display on Goodreads' author profiles because such anthologies, in general, do not appear..."Based on several exchanges with the GR editors, fighting their daffynition of "series" appears to be a losing battle. However, that won't deter me from listing my books as such and having them shown on Amazon as series, either.

Alex wrote: "Just another example of intransigent 'bosses' who are always right, even when they're wrong."The interesting thing is, the serial numbers of the books are listed in the books subtitles, which thwarts their system anyway. As well, their parent corporation, Amazon, through CreateSpace, lists the books as being in a series and Amazon and Kindle links the books as being in a formal series on their Website. So, Goodreads can remain stuck in the 19th century while the caravan moves on.
Thank you, everyone. She's doing a lot better by now. The bleeding has stopped and her bloodwork is looking good. They want to do a second endoscopy tomorrow to see how things are on the inside. At this point, they're blaming all this on a blood thinner she was taking. Obviously she's not taking that anymore...
Ugh! Dale, how frustrating! Damn medication side-effects! Hope your wife is able to go home soon. Prayers continue. Hugs
I am so sorry to hear about everyones illnesses and have been absent for sometime. I now have media lists for all english speaking countries for news and reviews, what a hard slog is all I can say and I take my hat off to you all here.
I am now targeting specific magazines in my genre and i am actually knackered- what alot of work this all is.
I will very soon have a list of libraries for all the US UK Canada Aust and New Zealand plus bookstores I will share with a select few.
thank you all
What a feat, MaryJane! I read just yesterday that writers need to shut out the cyber world for periods of time while they immerse themselves in writing-related worlds, so we expect people to 'go missing' from time to time.Kiss the ground for me, will you? I lived in NZ for some years and love it to bits.

I just published the first part of a trilogy and am working on the second. But I keep getting distracted from my writing by all the work that needs to go into promoting the first book.
Speaking of, I really should be writing right now...

I am truly sorry to hear about your partners illness; my mantra will be with you today. Hope all is better Dale.
Thank you again, everyone. Due to a rotten internet connection at the hospital, I haven't been able to post any updates until now. So here's the story (with apologies for medical terminology; if you need an explanation, feel free to ask). The second endoscopy indicated that the bleeding had come from at least one of the gastric varices that had formed and started bleeding back in 2014, which was treated by a TIPS procedure (basically, insertion of a shunt to direct some blood flow around the liver). She hasn't had any problems with this since then, but possibly her more recent medications caused this new bleeding.
Because the varices are involved, she was transferred last night to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where the TIPS was performed and where they have a top-notch transplant center. At this point I am not convinced she needs a liver transplant right now, but that's one of the things that's been mentioned simply because she is at risk for another bleeding episode. It may still be possible to reduce the risk by appropriate changes to her medication, but unfortunately she has afib, which means they need to have her on some kind of blood thinner to reduce the risk of stoke.
Today will be a battery of tests. She may be released either today or tomorrow, but we're unclear on what the treatment plan will be. Two weeks ago, her hepatologist said her meld score was 7, the lowest possible, putting her at the bottom of the transplant list, and the plan was simply to monitor her. But now . . . I guess we'll see.
Dale wrote: "Thank you again, everyone. Due to a rotten internet connection at the hospital, I haven't been able to post any updates until now. So here's the story (with apologies for medical terminology; if yo..."Holding good thoughts for you both, Dale.

Thank you again, everyone. Right now they're running a bunch of tests, mostly so the transplant team has all the latest in the event that they need it. It's not likely to go that far right now, though. We expect she'll be out tomorrow. They might want to tweak the TIPS, which possibly could be done outpatient, unless they decide to just do it while she's here, but that's a band-aid procedure, not a terribly big deal.
Thanks once again, folks. I've been trying to get some rest, although it's difficult. I didn't go to work this week, at any rate. They're doing a couple of simple procedures right now, one to tweak the TIPS (basically to open up the shunt a bit to improve blood flow, not that it was that bad to start with), and one called BRTO: Balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration, which sounds a bit like the "epidermal tissue disruptor" from Disney's The Rescuer's Down Under but isn't really all that bad. The idea is to scar over the varices so they (presumably) won't start bleeding again.
Hope she responds well to the procedures. I’ve just had blood tests. I’ll find out next week if I’m diabetic or not. If I am (massive family history) I can take pills, start to feel better and lose the weight I need to in order to better control my blood sugar. If I’m not I still won’t have any answers as to why I feel shoddy and why I had a bleed at the back of my eye.
It can be reversed in some cases. I’ve been borderline for years. I was hoping for some medication to help in the short term, lose 3st and possibly reverse the diagnosis.
Generally annoyed. It’s bright and sunny. I limped to the bakers with a taped up ankle and a walking stick to take the kids out to lunch. Just after 12 and all the tables were taken. Now they’re back in their bedrooms with takeaway sandwiches and I’m in pain because I didn’t get to break up the walk with a rest. Painkillers don’t work either.
I’m too annoyed for anything to work. I’m a bundle of peri-menopausal belligerence and raised middle fingers. I’d stomp for a bit but it hurts too much. I hate everything and could cripple someone’s car with a baseball bat, except I can’t be bothered. And it hurts too much. Bunch of arse.
I hate disappointing the kids. There was not an awful lot of happiness in my childhood so I take things like this to heart. It makes me feel like a failure that I couldn’t even take them out to lunch.
Amy and Alex, I applauded both your Medium articles. Sorry for your emotional distress and physical pain. You don't see me, but I'm right there with you in spirit.Started a new medication at the beginning of the month. It's supposed to stop my nightmares so I can get some sleep. I miss sleeping for more than one hour at a time. Anyway, I strongly suspect this drug is causing headaches and jaw pain. I want to pull all my teeth out of my mouth. Ugh!
Hoping our days get better. Hugs
