Getting To Know You!

The GRRRR!!!!!! thread
With all this positivity on the GRRR thread. I have to get it back to the grrs. I have a lot of books I have been writing on and not one is at the point of being finished and ready for publication. Book sales are beyond dead. And my Twitter account just ate my profile picture. There goes my Twitter following again. I tried to get another account but it wouldn't upload the Twitter photo at all on the new account so I deactivated that one. Probably going to have to deactivate my current one and wait 3-6 months to open a new one like last time where I was lucky enough to get everything working again. Messaging Twitter to fix the problem is like talking to nobody. And that's not even all the insanity that's going on.

It will come back better than ever, Angel. Maybe it had to happen for something better to happen. I truly believe that.
Angel you have my sympathy. I hope you sort it out. That’s definitely a Grrrr. Thank you as always Carole for your support. Remnants is the easiest thing I’ve ever written.
I read a lot, Amy. I just love that book. Track is just...perfect as a hero. No pressure, though!!! lol
There’s no pressure with that one. I always write Iridessian Haunts first because despite being on chapter 9 it’s not second nature. Track is just me having a damn good rant at the world.

hello everyone finally having a booklaunch after finishing four books I would like to say I have been reading posts but do not always contribute thank you

Thank you, Amy!
Alex wrote: "Well that's a grrr alright, Angel, such a pain, sorry you're having to deal with this, social media is such a pain."Thank you, Alex! I just hate starting over from square one again, which seems that's where my life is going these days.

I understand that. I’m procrastinating and blaming the cold for the increase in pain. I could do with hibernating myself. I need to make a Christmas pudding.
Always coffee. And chocolate out of my advent calendar. Yes I know I’m 45. I still have a chocolate advent calendar every year. It’s chocolate, it helps.

How hard is it to price match a book? Very Grrr. I’ll be on the Amaretto with you as soon as I’ve finished what might be Pernod (I dunno it’s a purple black liquid in a decanter. Tastes of aniseed #I’llDrinkAnything)
I bought Kraken rum last year. Still got it, but it is nice. I’m a sucker for the cream liqueurs. Terrible things. I’m probably allergic to cream not that it stops me. Worst thing I’ve bought-Jagerneister. To edit- #I’llDrinkAnythingExceptJagermeister bleugh
I'm with Amy on the Amaretto. Add a few maraschino cherries and it's basically a meal. I mean, fruit's good for you, and Amaretto's made from nuts, right?
Yep lots of food groups in alcohol. I just drink it out of a skull shaped shot glass if it doesn’t need a mixer.
It would have to be either Amazon or ebay. It certainly not a dainty thing.I've got both of these

Here's my rant for the day, "more book shelf space is gone." The Walmart store where I live has completed their renovations. The book section is about 25% of what it used to be.
Sad, no it's worse than sad, it's downright disheartening. I saw one article that said Barnes and Noble may be having difficulties. If they go under, that will be a huge loss. Difficult for brick and mortar store to compete with online purchases. Especially, when the shipping is free.
I always try to buy books from local bookstores, even if I have to pay a little more. It is worth it to me to send my business their way. In college, Borders was one of my escapes, and I hated seeing them go under.
The owner of one of my local bookstores said January through May are the hardest months. She asks the community to pledge 5 for 5 ($5 a month for 5 months) to help get them through the tough times and keep their doors open. It has had a great response.
Alex, Amazon no longer offer price matching: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...This is a new thing, as far as I know.
Alex - Grumbling and growling for you. I'll raise my next glass of JD to you. HugsAmy - Are you drinking Absinthe? Purple is my favorite color! Hugs
My grrrr...Just had to cancel my preorders and unpublished it. There were a lot to my surprise which was so inspiring and appreciated, but with editing not being done fast enough, delays at every turn, and life in general just kicking my ass, I had to cancel it rather than disappoint people who were waiting with a crappy rushed book. Done with 2017, 2018 has to be better. Grrrrrr
That’s annoying RL I hope you get it sorted quickly. It’s probably the reason I haven’t done a preorder. I hate having things beyond my control and worse I hate being late.
Let’s hope it’s builds up quickly. I feel like I’m very much starting again. With a different genre. I hope it makes a difference. #I’mNotCrap
I’ll stick this in here because I’m on the app and can’t get to the Random chat thread. Went to the GP and told him I’ve stopped taking the painkillers because they don’t work. Scored some amitriptyline. Hoping that does the job. I haven’t taken it in years. I’ve had enough of random ligament/tendon pain all day every day.
Thank you Alex. Heart racing is an interesting one. Pretty sure I didn’t have anything like that but I honestly can’t remember how I was on it 8 years ago. I lost those memories after my mini stroke. #FallingApart.
It's been six banking days since my Amazon Scout campaign ended and I still haven't heard anything! I wanna know already! If it's not chosen, (likely so) I'm gonna have to actually publish it by myself (which is likely) and I have to start thinking about it... I have been in a complete frozen state during my scout campaign - I can't seem to do anything until I know the result.
You don’t say! Not sure I’d sleep under those circumstances either. It seems to be the go to drug for many things. Did it take you long to recover?
Always difficult to get medications right. I’m still not there. Hope you hear soon Elina. I hate waiting for things.
Thank you Sam and Carole. It’ll be fine. Medication usually works for a while before I get used to it and have to try something new.
Writing for Radish is becoming a chore. I'd be more motivated if I was racking up the coins. As it stands I'm still writing two novels simultaneously. I'm still putting a chapter of each one out there each week. (I've just changed my publish day to Saturday for both so I can have the whole week to write.) And Radish is basically still acting as my off site backup storage system. They list the top 12 books for each of the 7 genres. Out of those 84 books in the top 12 only 16 are paid for. The rest are free books. I can't compete with that.
If you like doing serialisation but don’t want to do Radish anymore, you could consider Channillo. I’ve written a tiny amount on there so earned nothing, but it’s a subscription service so a different model.I don’t think I’d go so far as to say I recommend it, but you could check it out.

I can't compete with people who update a book three times a week. I don't have the time. I find myself getting caught up in non-writing things and struggling to finish another worthwhile chapter. The last thing I want to do is throw out inferior rubbish just to reach the word count and the schedule. I think these might be the only two I serialise.

I agree with Anita if I didn’t enjoy it I wouldn’t do it. I would like to do it for money. Writing, I would l..."
I never think- I just do- I think Amy, you are going to build a following- it just takes patience. and getting it to the right audience. While I enjoyed the first two books you wrote, Remnants is fantastic. I actually sit and wait for you to add more chapters. That's special! It is not Sci/fi- it's a story that could take place anywhere- it's a story about people and struggles.
Going back to what I was saying---
I wrote the first book in a competition with my kids. It was thrilling to see it published, but the income from it was minuscule. It became our mission to find a way to make this productive. We studied successful books and tried to copy what they had done. Anita is right- an author has to decide what they want- it's all a big gamble. (and you know how I feel about gambling, lol- I always put it all on the hard-eight!).
We went through the process. I wrote the first book- and then figured we had to build a brand- Did that- Created Carole P. Roman and Michael Phillip Cash- and for a while the income was steady- it would have been enough for one person to live on- but we all had a nice talk and decided to go for something life-changing. Will it happen? I don't know- but we are realistic- we know like actresses, or directors, or whatever, there are millions of them and less than 1 percent actually make it big.
BUT- I work full-time and treat this as another full-time job- but this one is def more fun
