Bio

Richard Kadrey is a freelance writer living in San Francisco. He is the author of dozens of stories, plus ten novels, including Sandman Slim, Kill the Dead, Aloha from Hell, Devil Said Bang, Kill City Blues, Metrophage and Butcher Bird. His Wired magazine cover story, Carbon Copy, was made into one of the worst movies of 2001. It starred Bridget Fonda. Sorry, Bridget.
He has been immortalized as an action figure. “Kadray [sic]: The Invincible Wizard” was a villain in an episode of the Blackstar animated TV series.

Kadrey created and wrote the Vertigo comics mini-series ACCELERATE, which was illustrated by the Pander Brothers. He plans to do more comic work in the near future.

He has written and spoken about art, culture and technology for Wired, The San Francisco Chronicle, Discovery Online, The Site, SXSW and Wired For Sex on the G4 cable network.

Richard has no qualifications for anything he does.

Sandra | 4734 comments I've seen Sandman Slim around here on Goodreads, so I just checked it out.

Sounds extremely interesting. However, I'm not spending $13 for the kindle edition & my library doesn't have any of them. :(

Jule | 8 comments My libary will borrow books i want from other library's if asked. Its worth a try, or ebay may have it cheap.

message 4: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments No, we've got a different system here Jule, unfortunately. I haven't bought books from ebay for a very long time, that's certainly worth looking into :) Thanks for reminding me.

Sandra | 4734 comments Gah, the cheapest on ebay was $16.48 and ranged as high as mid $30s, and Better World Books were out of stock :(

What a rip off it is $5.99 in the US. If I can find my paperback I would be happy to send it to you.

The trick of course is to find said paperback.

Tina Bartz | 678 comments I have the first one because I bought the e-book on sale for $1.99, I think, in July 2014, per Amazon. Several others were also on sale but I didn't have enough left on my gift card to get them and they weren't on sale for the Nook. Looks like I'll finally have a reason/incentive to read this book, now!

message 8: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments Dawn, don't worry, the postage would be prohibitive. It's not like I don't have plenty of other books to read. :D

It's just that it gets frustrating sometimes :(

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Sandra, I am so with you on the to read list of stuff I own.
The one thing I love about ebooks is I can search for them by title and they are in one of three places.

The book purchasing thing between countries makes no sense especially the electronic ones. And I find it super annoying I have zero control of a book I own I mean I have access too.

message 10: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments Yep & yep.

Sometimes I think I focus too much on how much books cost, but I feel we get ripped off just a little too often.

Especially when Amazon has to put on the price tag - eg Hachette Publishing listed this price. In other words don't complain to me (Amazon) its not our fault. I don't care who's fault it is, just fix it. And those books never go on special. :(

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Exactly!

The thing is these books can add up really quickly. While I read less than I used to I still read quite a bit.

The flip side is I have learned to be patient and enjoy those surprises when I go to the library and see my book available. Or when I finally see the price drop on amazon.

Sandra | 4734 comments I like to wishlist stuff and sometimes my friends tell me if they're on special, if I've missed it :) Always a good day when that happens :D
