An old man is going through his garage finds bike goes out riding mets an old dog both are transported to a different universe/world , bother are young now and the dog can talk, man figures out that a bunch of gods made a bet on who could win the love of the princess of the world, he is given a magic carpet and a magic pen to help him.
Cover had the man trying to save the princess from a dragon while he rode on his magic carpet

I've never fully read the book and I don't know the year, I saw it in a library , I ask the librarians but they didn't know much and I spent long time looking for it, Im not sure if it's adult or teen but it isn't a children's book it was quite lengthy,
