I think it would be the coolest thing ever if Shruikan betrayed Galby and smashed all the Eldunari, or released them from Galby's control so they could be free OR snash themselves. Because if a dragon doesn't want to live on as an Eldunari, they have to wait for a surge of magic to come so they can smash it from the inside. I don't know, I just really want Shruikan to do something like that! Maybe he'll kill Galby and then die himself...I love speculation.

i think shruikan will betray galby, he can't be under his control forevereither that or in the final battle eragon will hesitate to kill shruikan because he knows that he isn't there under his own will and so will falter and get stabbed or something, but you know not die.
defeat doen not mean kill though
theoretically, eragon could defeat galby, and then shrukan could kill him
theoretically, eragon could defeat galby, and then shrukan could kill him
that be kool, like eragon defeats him, got him to surrender and has him like kneeling on the floor because he's tired of killing his own kind. then all the sudden shruikan swoops in and eats himor something like that...
i dunno, eragon not a cold blooded killerwait... he did hunt the raz'zac... but those are evil
suppose galby does convince eragon he's the good guy, AFTER eragon free shruikan from his control, then eragons about to grant him mercy (and galby has a knife behind his back or something) THEN shruikan eats him. (im sorry i love that ending, it's like shrek) or if you want to be lame and say that eragon has to do it, then shruikan could like warn him, or something
but i think shruikan has to take part in it somehow because there have to be consequences to taking someones dragon and making it your own
Yeah. I think that, after they go through everything, Eragon will release Glaedr, at his request.
But he wouldn't be killing them. They're already dead, it's their souls (I think) that are in the heart of hearts, so like Katie said, they won't feel any physical pain. Wouldn't you want to be released after sitting there as nothing more than a thought for thousands of years? Being able to do nothing, only communicating, that is, if you could.
My thought of killing is that they would no longer exist in our word or alegesia for that matter. while if you release, its like making gleadr become a free spirit or a guardian.
Actually, you can't "release" Eldunari. When it says release in the books, it means smash, kill, destroy, whatever. Because it's freeing them from being trapped inside the Eldunari, and they can go wherever the dead go in Alagaesia, or just die completely, if there is no afterlife. You would do that if the dragon doesn't want to live on without a body anymore, and they can finally die.
I thought that an Eldunari was the dragon's actual self, like its consciousness and whole being minus the body, contained inside the Eldunari. Not like the spirits Eragon and Arya see.
if the dragon is released, it is differnet from killing it(in eldunari form)
both types wud involve smashing, but releasing it is whree it wants to be no more, killing it is where it wants to stay.

They are the same thing! By "killing" the eldunari, you're releasing the dragon's soul from inside. Technically, you're not even killing it. The dragon is already dead, it's just a piece of the dragon (soul, or whatever you wish to call it) that that's basically preserved for all eternity until someone smashes/destroys the eldunari, releasing that part of the dragon from inside.
Really, it's getting too technical and out of context. Yes, smashing the Eldunari against the dragon's will IS murdering it, but it's the same as releasing it. It's just that it might not be voluntary. Wow, I'm confused.
if i walk up to someone in the street who WANTS to die and kill him, thats not murder, if the dude doent want to its murder
John wrote: "if i walk up to someone in the street who WANTS to die and kill him, thats not murder, if the dude doent want to its murder"So you're saying that if Glaedr does'nt want to die or be smashed *wink* it would be killing? If he wanted to, then it's releasing or freeing?
I disagree. In this case, they are the same thing. Plus, who'd want to live forever and ever inside a tiny object, having no control over anything? Being able to do nothing.
John wrote: "if i walk up to someone in the street who WANTS to die and kill him, thats not murder, if the dude doent want to its murder"Lol, I don't think the police would listen to that arguement...
And I agree with Tara: Killing and releasing an Eldunari is the same thing. If you kill it, you release it, and vice versa. But if you release it against the dragon's will and wish, it would be a murder, because it's morally wrong. However, it's still releasing it.
murder uis where you kill omeone and are intending to kill them]
it would be assisted sucide actually though
