I finished this really quickly! It was very plot driven and I found myself wanting to know what happened next and stayed up way too late reading. Oh well! Overall I liked it. I gave it a 4-Star Goodreads rating (though I actually think it'd be 3 1/2). The 3 Codas at the end were kind of odd. If you haven't read it yet, I'd give it a go for sure! It was really a light and fun read and I'd love to hear other thoughts on it!
I read through this pretty quickly and was pleased until I got to those codas. I just kept thinking what the hell is going on through that blog part. The end was good though.
I totally agree about the codas! Mainly the first one. The other two were okay I suppose. The blog part sent my eyes rolling..it was so dorky LOL! but overall this was a super fun book. I'm wondering if this author's other books are similarly funny or if they are more serious. I think I'd check out another book by him for sure! I like a good, fast read every now and then.
To funny! I loved the codas! I felt like the "story" in the book ended abruptly. Obviously that was purposeful, and I'm glad he didn't drag out any more of that story. I felt it was just ok, since the characters where a bit thin and not very interesting overall. But I suppose that was the point, they were mostly fictional. I found myself wanting to know more about what happened to the "real" people from 2012. I was so happy that the codas wrapped up that portion of the book for me. I thought the blog coda was funny, although I think it would have been more appropriate as a thread on Reddit. But maybe that wasn't enough of a thing in 2012, blogging was cool back then. The third coda was sweet. I figured the cliche ending would be her meeting the real "Jenkins", and they would walk of into the sunset. That cliche ending was pretty perfect since the whole book was making fun of the cliche of sci-fi and Hollywood story telling.
Overall, I really liked the book. It was refreshing to read something funny and philosophical at the same time. Thanks for the pic Beth!
Amy, I actually got the book idea from you! I saw that you had shelved it and it piqued my curiosity. I researched it and it had good buzz so I figured it was a good choice! I really do want to check out other books by this author because he seems really fun!
