Well, I would assume the same, based on the book's name and short description. I can approve it, but since the description on the GR page is not very clear and the setting is not directly mentioned, I would recommend that when you post, you include also a reference link or quotation from the book to establish the country, as the mods probably aren't very familiar with the Finnish national epic.

Nicola Tyson | 216 comments Hi, i've had to read Cranford for another reading group but the only version my library had was one with Elizabeth Gaskell's short stories attached. They were all individually first published in the 19th century when she first wrote them but the goodread's page doesn't seem to have a first published like the Cranford page's: Cranford and other stories by Elizabeth Gaskell . Can i count it for Option 3 still?

message 73: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 501 comments I'm sorry Nicola, the rules of SRC state that we go by the first publication date of the book that you read. I know this question has earlier been asked e.g. in relation to new collections of old short stories. As a task creator I am not able to allow exceptions to the general rules. As Cranford: and other stories has only the publication date of 2007, it doesn't work for Option 3.

message 74: by Nicola (new)

Nicola Tyson | 216 comments Thanks Camilla. I thought this may be the case but if you don't ask you never know :) Can i claim this book for Option 2- a book cover with a sun on it instead: The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

Sure, the sun is clearly visible, so enjoy! Haven't read the book, but loved the movie.

It looks like there is some snow on the ground as well in addition to the snowflakes, so yes.

Wolf Lake (Dave Gurney, #5) by John Verdon I have a hard copy of this book and there is a building with snow on the roof and snow on the land in back of the building., though the foggy background makes it difficult to see.

Sure Andy, the snow is clearly visible. Funny coincidence, I just read the same book for another task. And of course Tove Jansson works for a Finnish author; her writing is beautiful, I can really recommend her.

Why anybody would want to freeze their butt sitting on a snow-covered bench is beyond me, but yes, the cover works.
