The Importance of Being Earnest - Week 1 (March 2017)

Just finished Act One, and it's hilarious! The concept of Bunburying was amusing. Still happens today, but with less need for such elaborate-ness! Also, the fact that Gwendolen feels she would only want to spend her life with someone with a specific name is hilariously shallow!
Looking forward to the next two acts. Though also a bit wary to see what Algernon is up to!

There will be some kind of twist...won't give it away yet...
Loved the entire experience!

I too wonder what Jack is going to do about his name... I ultimately feel sorry for him. He chose to be someone else for fun, but met the woman of his dreams and now has to explain to her about the name. Also, because he doesn't know his family, her mom won't allow them to be married. It amazes how different it was back then, how important one's station in life was sooooooo important. I'm also reading Basil by Wilkie Collins and a similar situation is happening... Basil loves a girl who is below his station and would not be approved by his father, just because she's of a lower class.
I wonder what Algernon is planning to do with Jack's country address. Probably nothing good. ;) On to Act 2...
This week's reading is about, Act I
