So I'm confused. They talk about what they want to do after Mars, but don't once mention Detroit.

Didn't Andrew promise to serve in the militia after Mars?

Also, Hallie's mother is a real piece of work. Good for her to stand up to her. And what was her ex boyfriends plan in all of that? Somehow win her away from Andrew?

Oh and I'm glad we get more Dimitri! Especially since Fallon won't be there.

The plan sounds like the Normandy Invasion battle plan.

@Rob-I'm not sure he really expects to return.

I agree about the old boyfriend. Can't think of any way that might play into the larger picture except to drive home the point that her mother is a real ass.

I liked that we got the conversation with the CO of the Phalanx. The previous book painted these guys as cowards and evil. Nice to see a bit more nuance.

That's a good point Lindsay. It always comes back to everyone is the hero of their own story. Or at the very least, she was doing what was best for her kids. I think any parent would identify with that sentiment.

Yes, and in general, they considered the situation hopeless and were trying to have some hope of survival for humanity. I think the truly evil part was the selectivity and cronyism of it all.
