John Weeks | 2 comments I regularly download public domain ebooks and then edit the metadata (in Sigil) and file name (in Windows) so that the books are better organized on my computer. A standard file name might be: “Hope – Zenda 02 - Rupert of Hentzau”.
This works great on the computer, but when I transfer this title to my NOOK app directory on my tablet and view using the NOOK app I only have two methods of organization; by author (then alphabetic by title), and by title (strictly alphabetic).
I figured that the title and author texts used by the NOOK app would be in the epub metadata fields. But I am not getting consistent results when I modify those entries. (For some books an author will appear as “Anthony Hope” – for other books the same author may appear as “null Hope”.)
I am kind of a stickler for trying to get this right so I would appreciate any help in determining how to edit these books so that they appear properly in Nook’s library lists.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 41 comments The way public domain publishers work, you're probably toast from the start. Trying to make sure you buy them all from the same publisher might result in some degree of order, but I have to say that I gave up long ago. The publishers could care less about our organization, and even in iBooks (the best organization app I have) it is touchy. I keep organized shelves here and now just use the search function on my ebook apps.

Have you tried Calibre? If you import the files and edit the metadata, it should appear as you want. (If I'm understanding your issue, which I may not be!)

John Weeks | 2 comments Yes - I have both Calibre and Sigil. I just prefer to use Sigil because i am more familiar with it. Both can edit metadata. I just have not yet figured out which fields (variables) NOOK uses in their organization logic.

Amit Kumar | 1 comments I think when it comes to E-book management then Calibre is the most comprehensive e-book software. I am using it from a log time.

Although, sometimes I follow these websites to download free ebooks ( http://www.zerodollartips.com/websites-download-free-ebooks-pdf/ ) which are completely legal to download and read.
