Anita (anitafajitapitareada) March's challenge is a Memorial Read. Read a book by or about someone who passed away in 2016

Here's a pretty decent compilation from CNN.com of People We've Lost in 2016. It includes actors, authors, politicals, and sportsfigures.

Remember, these challenges are your personal challenges, so if you want to read a Harry Potter book (or Sense and Sensibility) in memory of Alan Rickman then feel free. If you think it counts, it counts!

Tell us here what you're reading and who you're remembering.

Jess (jessicaclarence) | 12 comments I had no idea Gloria Naylor passed away last year! Her book Mama Day was one of my favorite books I've read in college.

I think I'll try to find used copies of her books The Women of Brewster Place and The Men of Brewster Place for this month.

Eujean2 | 24 comments Because I am (not so patiently) waiting for the sequel to The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet to come out in print in March, I switch my monthly challenges.

Carrie Fisher books are understandably in high demand, but I also love Singing In the Rain, so I read a book of memories by Debbie Reynolds, Make 'Em Laugh: Short-Term Memories of Longtime Friends Debbie has so many stories about Hollywood stars & she is wonderfully complementary about other people.

I have a book of Leonard Cohen poetry waiting for me at the library, so I will probably read that too. And maybe some Darwyn Cooke comics.

Anita (anitafajitapitareada) I had to rearrange a bit last year to fit things in as well Eujean, but reading is trading right? A long way to a small angry planet is in the current running Sci Fi poll for our April read, so it's good to know there's a sequel coming very soon.

The Women of Brewster Place has been on my tbr pile for too long Jess, maybe I'll read it for this challenge too. Thanks for the rec!

Eujean2 | 24 comments I did decide to do a graphic novel memorial read as well & chose Absolute DC: The New Frontier by Darwyn Cooke. I love Cooke's style (even if the women all look a little the same) and this is a fun re-telling of the Justice League mainstays.

(Off to read more of A Closed and Common Orbit -- my carry over sequel read. I'm only a few pages in & it's a great follow up to April's vote for the group read!)

Thank you to Jess for mentioning Mama Day. I just read it and I loved it!
