This is literally the funniest thing. https://electricliterature.com/librar...
My favorite parody video was the Uptown Funk one, though that Old Spice commercial was great too

That's far from the most disturbing entry in those games :D
I have discovered the most off-base Avatar (original series) ship possibly ever. And I've gotta say....I don't hate it.
I asked my sister if I could have some of her water. "Sure, but it's like two days old" no in pretty sure it's as old as the planet lol
As a word of advice to everyone, if you have an itch and need to use something to scratch it, and the only thing available is a pen, make sure the pen is closed.
One of the most frustrating things is a person who takes a show and ships possible pairing. Make that person an artist, and you spend eternity searching through their stuff for something remotely logical.
Oh trust me. That's their favorite, so there's tons of that. AND all the obscure ones, when all I want is to find that one that was blurry on pinterest.
I think I would be a better fanfiction writer if: 1. I had at least one OTP that I seriously cared to write about.
2. I actually liked AUs. Which I do not.
I think the idea someone has to write an AU to have a popular fanfic is stupid. Most fanfics aren’t AUs and they still do well. Almost everything I write personally isn’t an AU and I still do fine
Yeah but like there are so many AU prompts that I would love to do and I think I'd be decently good at.
And I mean better in terms of like, my being proud of it. I don't publish any. WHICH is probably a good thing because all I have is my Pokemon stuff from when I was 15 and couldn't write to save my life.
Same. I'm so sick of all these pompous jerks and hypocrites. The only thing they're good for is giving me something to get angry at if I need to get mad in a pinch
But they attack the authors too and I just think that's not fair tbh. Like, go write a better book then! There are books I hate too, but I never insult an author's choices in terms of their diversity or lack of (unless that "diverse" character serves no purpose other than for the sake of saying inclusion). And I certainly don't want to insult writing styles just because I couldn't really read it. Like...it's all a matter of if you're on the right wavelength, you know? And insulting people because of their like/dislike of the same book?? Your opinions are not more important than another's in any way shape or form!
Yeah I don’t condone going after authors unless they are legit terrible people, like if they’ve done something illegal or are extremely racist or something to that effect. But being extremely insulting just because you dislike their style is uncalled for
"extremely racist" to the extent of believing that in person, I think. Because something "racist" in a book might have been the point? So it's rude to call the author racist for them just trying to make a point even if no one got it.
So like, Librarians are against censorship and etc. But to be honest, one of the hardest parts of my job is watching 8-10 year olds (and sometimes a little older) checking out manga without saying anything about the content. Sure, there are some manga we have that is suitable for a younger audience, like Chi's Sweet Home, Volume 1 or something like that. But then they go out with things like Black Bird, Vol. 1 or some others that are really sometimes too sexually graphic for someone that age! And I have to keep my mouth shut. I'm not saying they can't have them, but these parents should be aware of what their elementary school child is seeing! It's different from when they pick out an adult book, because kids don't always understand the words they're reading. But here all this stuff is in pictures, and it's really not suitable for them. And it isn't made for them. It's not like we don't have graphic novels for their age, it's just that they're not as colorful or easy to find as the YA Manga.
THat's not even censorship. Censorship would be altering or flat out banning them to hide hide the graphic content. But I agree: they should definitely know what's in a manga or graphic novel. They're not all like Pokemon and even the Yugioh manga is...pretty freaking dark.
I'm sure you know but places like Gamestop make people aware of the content in video games. I'm not sure if that's the law or just store policy but I think it should be a thing for every place that distributes mature entertainment.
Actually now that I think about it...the Pokemon manga can be intense at times too!! For younger kids anyway
I know it's not censorship...but we're not allowed to say things like that because we can be accused of it. We have sections, and rules in place for some things (like not allowing children to check out DVDs) but it's all for nothing if the parents don't care, which is really what I'm getting at.
