Today some rude elderly man accused me of playing dumb because I didn't have an explanation for why his card wasn't expired and his wife's was. Like, I've only been working there for two and a half months. I don't know when he last got his renewed and when she did, or why the system decided to have his expiration date almost a year later?? Even if I asked our tech specialists, they wouldn't have an answer!All the while, I was trying to explain to his wife what she needed to do to renew her library card, and he was talking over me, accusing me of playing dumb and saying how I should know and understand EVERY function of the system.

I feel like he was one of those types that would have gotten mad at me no matter what, just because I'm young. That in his mind, that means I'm just a rotten teenager.

I almost snapped at him, I swear. And I am so glad my supervisor wasn't listening because the strain in my voice was real. His wife was like, totally oblivious to how rude he was being. Most wives of that kind of guy seem to try to calm them down or snap at them or something, she just kept trying to talk to me like it was normal for him to act that way.
I don't know how you can do it, honestly. that sucks >_<
