So I've been trying this whole do it yourself write, edit, publish, promote thing( I've tried to find an editor and I've had 0 luck). And after I'm done writing and editing by the time I get to proofing so I can fix typos, I'm cross eyed and dizzy. What do you guys do for editing and proofing.

Start at the last page and read your story that way. You don't become invested because it won't make sense, and you can still spot typos and wonky sentence structure.

I give my work an edit myself, then send it to my editor to be polished and have all those grammar mistakes I always make fixed up, and then when she sends it back I give it one final read through myself. I did not use a professional editor for my first series, but for my current series I have been and intend to continue to. I adore my editor, she is super sweet, and reasonably priced, if you want details just let me know!
Another great thing to do (that can take a while) is listen to your novel. I use an app on my computer called Robot Talk. I get such a chuckle on how Zira (the voice) pronounces some words. You'd be amazed what kind of errors you'll find.I also like to read it in different formats. I always convert to epub and read on my phone. I even make a paperback copy (most of the time), your eyes see it differently reading it that way.
