I'm reading (STAT) Standing tall and talented double team by Amar’e Stoudemire I've finished the book, it’s really good, especially the conflict and the plot. Since the last time i wrote my last dialogue journal this book has been a total twister. With Amar’e having to make the toughest decision in this story
The title relates to Amar’e Stoudemire, because of his height and size, he was able to Dominate the basketball court. In the book, he describes himself as “standing tall and talented” Talking about his midrange game and how he bullies people in the paint.
There are many conflicts in this story, mostly external. One of the conflicts is between Amar’e playing to the invitational with a popular superstar or playing to the upcoming tournament game. Amar’e has a tough time telling his friends about the invitational, and when he finally does, they turn their backs on him. On the day that Amar’e plays his invitational game with the popular superstar, he does well overall, but still has to go his tournament game. As soon as the invitational game’s over, he rushes with his dad and brother to the tournament game and gets there just in time to watch his friends play.
The setting of this story is all in South Florida where the weather is hot and humid, People are active all the time, it's summertime and kids are playing around the neighborhood until sundown. This gives the story a good tone because it’s summertime and everybody’s happy.
Overall, this book was alright, it wasn’t the best book i ever read. I would suggest recommending this book to kids from ages 6-12
