Not really. As a reporter she was use to reporting what was happening, not actually taking an active role in it. What happened changed her perspective. I thought it was very brave for her to return. BUT - she did not expect to be back in the middle of the situation she was in before. She believed she was going to do some research, get an interview and write it all up. In and out, nice and easy.
I agree with Anita. Any reporter would probably have a hard time returning to Argentina after becoming part of the story that they were reporting. And she talked herself into returning for a big story and hopefully tracking down Gabe. She certainly didn't plan on getting into the middle of the mess again.
I thought she was really shaken when she left Argentina. She'd almost died and had witnessed atrocities. Didn't surprise me at all.
Her decision to return? I think she knew she had to face her fears and return to the country where it got created. The assignment seemed safe enough so on the surface, it seemed like a sound decision.

Anyone would be shaken up after experiencing that kind of trauma. So it didn't surprise that she lost her edge. It also didn't surprise that she would want to return to prove something to herself. She has that resilient personality that was shown when she was a captive prisoner.
