Angel | 723 comments Also and it just a suggestion, but you guys can ignore it if you want to what if each of our author pages on the navigating indie world/indie books event site had banners that could make each one of our author pages stand out. Maybe we can recruit someone who is good with making them. Also, please add my other book Corridors of My Mind to the memoir section/it's a dark poetry/memoir. It's on my Amazon Author page along with "Weeping Well," so I guess it can be pulled from there. I forgot to mention it earlier. Thanks!

I've added your book.

What type of banner did you have in mind?

Angel | 723 comments Also since the indie books event is going to launch at the end of March, I can do a contest for readers' to win a free print copy of my book "Corridors of My Mind" and do a Kindle promotion for my other book "Weeping Well (Weeping Well, #1)." That's when I'll be able to do the Kindle Countdown deal is on March 28 but of course it won't officially kick in until the next day so I'll pick how many days the promotion and the contest will go on according to how long the indie books event will be going on.

message 204: by Angel (new)

Angel | 723 comments Also on our author pages on the indie site where the links to our social media sites are next to our author photos, those should be highlighted such as the words "Goodreads," Facebook, Amazon" and so on, those words should be highlighted in color so people know to click on them, it needs to draw the eye. In addition, the buttons where it says underneath the display of the book cover on the author page, such as the buttons that say "Meet so and so" those buttons should be in color to draw the eye to click on them. Consumers are more likely to click on those buttons if they are in color and it can also skyrocket sales. Sorry if this suggestion might irk anyone. You can ignore it if you want, that's fine. I was just lending my expertise, since I have a very strong college/ educational background and experience in Business, Advertising and Marketing.

I'm not easily irked. I'm down for anything that makes the website better. That's a good idea. I'll make the links orange.

I went with orange because of Dutch pride. Lol, or to fit the website's title.

Angel | 723 comments Ok, I tried to upload a file for one of my articles on the submissions page and it wouldn't accept the upload. What format would you like the word.doc to be in so I can upload it, because that hasn't been established in the intro and is there a limit to how many we can upload because I'd like to submit two articles of mine. If there is a limit and I can only submit one, that's fine.

That's weird.
The submission page is Erin's little tool, so I'll ask her to look at it.
You may submit as many articles as you want. You may also send them to via me this e-mail blogarticles@navigatingindieworld.com for now, while we figure out why the tool won't accept doc =/

For me, for the banner I'd like something gothic, but colorful with some dark contrast that also compliments the other brighter colors.

I'm a pretty good banner maker, but the number of authors on the website is getting higher by the day. It's not feasible for me to make 40+ banners, I'm afraid. But if you can get someone to make you one, or would like to add quotes, excerpts etc to your page, just send me everything via DM and I'll add them.

I could, however, make 5 general banners, each featuring a different theme (gothic, fantasy, romance, general, crime) and allow people to pick one for their profile. That, I can do.

Alexis | 861 comments So.. whistles.. can books on pre-order be added to the site as well? Like an erotic contemporary multicultural romantic suspence with a very very sexy cover to be released in April?

ETA: Nevermind. I see that Alex' book is a pre-order too so I won't be breaking any rules.

Alexis | 861 comments Amy wrote: "Is there a date we start sharing the web site or are we just going for it?"

The deadline for submissions is March 5.

I will then ask everyone to give me the details for their book: e.g.which books will be on sale, free, on Kindle Unlimited, or regular price.

Each book will then get a small banner on top stating whether it's a free, a bargain or on KU (or regular price). I'll finalize the book pages on March 8 then.

Next, I plan to have all my promo material ready for March 12. I will ask for your opinions on what type of promo to make AND WOULD LOVE TO RECEIVE IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS FOR DESIGNS. (Everyone can make their own as well, but I'll have some pre made images for FB, Twitter and blogs..)

I was thinking we could make it a 3 day event; 28,29 and 30 of March. Let me know what you think before I copy and paste this into the NI "All you need to know" thread.

Thanks guys!!
Remembers, we still need a name!

message 241: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments So dropping the price around those three days at the end of March right?

message 242: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I think I've got this right-because I'm also published on iBooks and therefore am not enrolled in KDP Select I can only manually drop the price. I can't do a countdown deal. So as long as I remember to do it I can do a 99p thing for the event. (Still allergic to free lol)

Alexis | 861 comments Amy wrote: "So dropping the price around those three days at the end of March right?"

Yes, if you want. You can keep it regular price too, but of course, you might benefit from having it listed as "ON SALE"nWho doesn't love a bargain?

Personally:
I'm going to add something like this:
List price: 3.99
NOW: 25% off: 2.99

Great. I'll give you a small banner at the top that says NOW 0.99 or ON SALE. It's going to look so f'ing cool that it will almost (almost) compensate for having to drop the price.

message 245: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Excellent thanks. I haven't done a price drop in months anyway. Good point with the 25% off. I'm currently listed at £2.99. 25% off would put it at £2.24 and still leave me with about £1.50ish royalty. Which is more than I'd get if it was free.

message 246: by Erica (new)

Erica Graham (erica_graham) | 1496 comments Mod
I just released my books in an e-book version. Yay! I priced them at 2.99 in preparation for this event. That is a sale price. I will raise them to 3.99 after the event is over. Do you want us to start listing our deals we will be running in a separate thread to help keep track of who is doing what? Or do you prefer for us to wait before throwing all this information your way?

Yeah. I'm going to work with percentages on the website. Consumer brains have been wired to think that a % offer is better than a $ reduction, for example 25% somehow sounds more appealing than $1 off even though the money saved is the same in both cases. I'll be using that tactic on the website.
And of course the good old: LIMITED TIME ONLY.

I'd be happy if you would create that thread Erica! :D I guess first I want to know what you guys think of the dates.. 28/29/30 march.

message 249: by Erica (new)

Erica Graham (erica_graham) | 1496 comments Mod
Those dates sounds good to me. :) I will get a thread started specifically for event deals to help keep things organized.

message 250: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments The dates are fine by me. It's a Tue, Wed, Thu.

Percentages are better for this kind of thing. 25% off sounds a hell of a lot better than what was it 70p on mine? Something like that.
