Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I think that'll be a great subject for an article Alex. I've knocked out about 5k words this week and a 6k word short story the week before. The only reason I could is because of lack of work in my other business. I have also not been out as much. Walking is my exercise. And tend to get right into it at the time I should be cooking dinner for the family.

No rush, Alexis and if you need help- let me know what I can do- Brit is back on Mondays and can be at your disposal. She has been emailing every blog and person we could dig up. She has sent out 100's of queries. I hope they are starting to come in. ;)

message 616: by Becky (new)

Becky Benishek (becky_benishek) | 166 comments I signed up on Pronoun on Friday, and just added my Amazon books since I need to make sure I really understand all the ramifications if I move them over outright.

I'm already impressed: Pronoun sent me an email telling me I had a new review on one of my books. I get squat from Amazon unless I go to them (Author Central or the sale page itself). I really like that touch. Plus I'd had a nice welcome email urging me to contact them for anything I needed.

I wouldn't have even heard of this site without Navigating IndieWorld, this I know for sure.

message 617: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) Am I the only person totally confused about these websites and events? lol. Gosh, I feel like just when I think I know what's going on I get confused again.

Alexis | 861 comments Justin wrote: "Am I the only person totally confused about these websites and events? lol. Gosh, I feel like just when I think I know what's going on I get confused again."

Well, it's pretty easy to sum up.

I made the website thinking both as a reader and as an author and with the help of Kay and Erin and their ideas and everyone else who contrbuted in some way made it what it is now. Frankly, in a very short time. We just thought of something and decided to do it!!! (Just do it, shows nike shoes, throws up peace sign.)

Anyways.

We're hosting a collaborative marketing effort on the 27/28/29 of March.

We're tying it to an amazing giveaway + free anthology book in order to attract visitors.

I made the website easy to navigative and nice looking in order to make it easy and pleasant for people to browse and find books. (By splitting it up per genre, adding author pages since as a reader I always like to find out more about the authors who wrote the books.)

Since we were already paying to host the website, I decided to not let that money go to waste and to turn the domain NavigatingIndieworld.com into a place to talk about resources, share ideas and tips FOR INDIES BY INDIES.

It's free. There's no ads. We don't make any money. We basically operate thanks to sponsors. I donate my time, my skills and whatever information that I have. I browse the net for free pictures to use. Others donate their time and ideas too. Bloggers donate ad space in exchange for banners during the event. Carole donated giveaway money because she really wants this event to do well. Others donate articles, short stories etc etc. And come March 27 we are all going to promote like crazy!

Becky is talking about Pronoun a website that helps you with publishing that she found out about thanks to a very informative article written by Nicole. It's posted on NavigatingIndieworld.com right now. (P.S. if you're a romance author find Nicole Locker on Facebook and join her group. I haven't had time to particpate yet but she has great ideas.)

Anyways just visit navigatingindieworld!
www.navigatingindieworld.com

It's easy to "navigate".
Get it?

And write us something!!
(Please note that that everyone is really busy right now so you might not get a reaction on your article immediately, but that myself or Erin will get around to it.)

Alexis | 861 comments I got.a lovely e-mail from Glenda who agreed to promote our event. She also said this:

Hi, I'd be happy to do something on my blog...which goes out to other sites...but I also suggest that you have somebody join my group at Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/groups/Revie... You could have various authors post that their book is going to be at the festival... My group has just under 15000 members...

Feel free to send me your materials by email...Do you have any date for posting?

Best, Glenda

I joined but I would love if more of us joined as well so that we can get familiar with the group and get ready to post about the event. Let me know if you're interested in a bit of social networking. :)

Alexis | 861 comments We are also looking for someone else to join our team over at
www.navigatingindieworld.com

You would be working closely with Kay Macleod on the social media front. She is busy with Facebook and you'd be busy with Twitter. We need a presence there.

A blogger asked about it and I was like "Oh shit!"

Send me what you would like me to publish whenever you're ready. Just send me appropriate pictures, and any relevant information such as prices, the book festival's theme, and any day deals. Do you have any social media accounts you would like me to direct to as well? Eg/. @naviagtingindieworld ?

Thank you for getting back to me! Best of luck preparing for it!

Regards,

Crystal

DM me if you're interested in being our Tweeter. We don't pay anything but it's fun I promise and we understand that we're all busy indies just donating a bit of time so we're not very demanding.

J (J, Saman), did you edit the banner? I want to add it our promo page but I remember you were going to edit it.

Alexis | 861 comments Carole has gone above and beyond for this event. Not only loaning us Brit and her mailing lists but also sponsoring giftcards and a Facebook ad for all three days. Just above and beyond! I've added a special section to the webpage where I will list all the sponsors and that includes Carole's books as a heartfelt THANK YOU. She didn't ask me to do this but seriously it's the least I - well, we - can do, I think. :p I will also add the bloggers that have agreed to support the event next. You can find it at the bottom of the event page. :)

I'm cogitating on a few."

Thumbs up on this. I suck at making fancy tweets. :(

message 632: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
I think a single tweet would be perfect- like we are starting a rallying cry. Think Braveheart with books!

We will start a trend and it become recognizable and linked to US- almost like a brand. So, every time we do an event- it will stir up more interest and soon everybody will want to say they are a part of it. It worked for the Kardashians and we have a ton more talent.

message 633: by Groovy (last edited Mar 23, 2017 07:01PM) (new)

Groovy Lee Thank-you, Carole, for all of your hard work for this event. I'm sure there's not one person here that doesn't appreciate the effort you put in for us:)

Groovy Lee I have a question: When the event starts, besides promoting, and buying books, where are we supposed to go to interact? Is there a link?

Alexis | 861 comments Groovy wrote: "I have a question: When the event starts, besides promoting, and buying books, where are we supposed to go to interact? Is there a link?"

I think we can make a new thread for that on here on March 27 right?

message 640: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Yes that looks good Alex. Needless to say I'll knock something up that goes along the lines of "who wants some cheap books? Go here, find books, buy stuff, because we're worth it" lol

(Have just dropped the price of my book in preparation-hopefully-you never know with these things)

message 641: by Amy (last edited Mar 24, 2017 03:15PM) (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I have this problem: I have set the price for my book on Amazon.co.uk to be 99p. I have also set the price for amazon.com to 99c. Neither price is based on the other. It says that's what I've done in KDP. Yet when I looked at the amazon.com site it says it's $1.22

Any ideas what I need to do? Or is it listed correctly if you're looking in the US?

That's my tweet. I took a lot of Kay's tweet. I also added my banner to it if anyone likes it and wants to use it too. I usually do some light promoting a few days before and then I go nuts during the event.
