This is, I am sure, a topic that comes up a lot on here. I'm pretty much at that point in my latest book where I am thinking about agents and even sending publishing materials directly to publishing houses. So my question I put to my fellow HA groupers is this:
Aside from searches online for agents accepting horror, or publishers accepting submissions - and trust me I have done extensive requests of this nature recently - what are some other routes one may go to get agents, editors, or publishers interested?
Bumping shoulders at conferences is a good way to make contact, I hear. There's also becoming an active member of the HWA (three pro-published stories and a minimum word requirement). A lot of agents and publishers (not to mention authors) gather there, so it can be a great way to get involved with that community from what I understand.
Thanks for the tip Daniel - an oft-overlooked option or approach. Alas, here in Phoenix the limited conferences available are either much later in the year or already filled up...
