Gina | 1 comments The Briefcase - "It was a cold mid-January day, and the sun had just sunk below the horizon about an hour ago. Bobby Bruno, tightly closing his army green zipper-less coat in an attempt to avoid the bite of the wind, dragged his feet down the walkway of Pittsburgh’s State Correctional Institution. It was dark, just as it had been six months ago when Bobby was brought to this place he learned so much to despise. "

Timer - "The woman was old, there was no denying it. Her skin was like paper, translucently white and fragile, like tissue paper that had been wrapped loosely over the intricate puzzle of blood vessels and bones beneath. Her lips were stretched tight, thin and dull, and I wondered briefly if she was in pain."

Sampson - "Sampson sat alone, the room dark, with a small candle on his bedside table encircling him in a subtle yellow-orange halo. Some time had passed, he could sense it had been longer than an hour, but the bedroom was clockless so there was no way to be sure. His stomach grumbled until the grumble turned into a growl and he finally decided that enough was enough; it was time to eat."
