Maloof was a professor at Salisbury State and shares her love and knowledge of eastern US old growth forests. Much info on the differences between true old growth and 100 to 150 year old forests. Made me want to get out a experience old growth. Kind of a "Hidden Life of Trees" for this area and includes all of the forest ecosystem, not just the trees. Much about the high species diversity and complexity that exist in an true old growth (virgin) forest as opposed to one that has been growing 100-200 years on former farm land.

Available in BCPL.
