I am looking for another mod or two, to help me finish up the group and help keep an eye on it, and throw out suggestions for making the group better. If you are interested, post here or message me, thanks!

I will check to see what needs to be done tomorrow. I will start with State of the Nation.

Just a thought- would it be a good idea to pick a specific section for each monthly read? The way we are doing it now works for me too.

message 10: by Jenny, Makeing a world of books (new)

Jenny Clark | 989 comments Mod
Ok thanks Rose and Camille!
Rose, I think either way would work, or we could even do seven group reads a month, one from each catagory, though I think that may be a bit much. Or, alternitively we could do a poll for a section of the year and nominate group reads from just one section for a year. What do you all think?

message 11: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
So far we have had a good variety of books- from State of the Nation, Family and Self, and Love. If we can in a rut(always do the same categories) we could change it a bit then.
I think one book a month is enough to have a good discussion. Any more might spread the readers too thin.

I'll work a bit on War and Travel this morning. :)

There is one novel in the state of the nation that should be in the Love section- Effi Briest. For now I have placed it in the state of the nation because it is on the list, but I think it should be moved.

message 15: by Renee (new)

Renee M | 434 comments Mod
I looked at both lists but couldn't find that one.

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
I found it in the State of the Nation list, so I will leave it there. That will keep things simple for all of us. I think quite a few of the books fit in different categories anyway- as long as people keep reading, I'm happy.

I agree Rose. I'll double check everything sometime mid week, I work till Wednesday. That's when I'll finish my part as well.

message 19: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
I find that as I am adding books, I am also adding books to my TBR list- in addition to the books already checked off.
I am about three quarters through the list-- so many good books.

message 20: by Camille (new)

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) Sorry, I haven't been able to add any books as we are in the middle of a sleep crisis with my son at the moment. Will do if I get a chance though!

message 21: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
Camilla, I hope he figures it out soon. My 10 and 1/2 month old granddaughter is not a good sleeper either. So don't worry about adding books, there are not very many left to do.
Enjoy your little one!

message 22: by Jenny, Makeing a world of books (new)

Jenny Clark | 989 comments Mod
Aww it's all good Camille. Hopefully he starts sleeping good soon for you!

message 23: by Camille (new)

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) I hope so! He's got some super powers, manages to wake up the second I put him down. I think I'm going to enrol him at Xavier's school for special kids!

I think I've finished posting War and Travel. Woot woot!

message 26: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
I am just compiling the list for state of nation. I saw your list, Renee, and thought it was a good idea to have them all in one place.
There is a negative side to that of course, my to- read list is growing again!

message 27: by Renee (new)

Renee M | 434 comments Mod
Lol! Oh My God! It's so true!!!

You're welcome.

message 30: by Renee (new)

Renee M | 434 comments Mod
Yes! (I never think to say "You're Welcome" anymore. Why does that simple acknowledgement seem to be disappearing from our social interactions?)

But, yes, very welcome. :)

message 31: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
I notice that we don't have a Comedy section yet. If someone sets up the heading for it, I will be glad to start adding the books.

message 32: by Jenny, Makeing a world of books (new)

Jenny Clark | 989 comments Mod
Comedy is there, it just has not been commented on so it disappeared on the app. on the website, click more discussions and you will see it

Thanks. I do remember seeing it when the group first started.

I found it.

Jenny Clark | 989 comments Mod
You're welcome :)

message 35: by Wend (new)

Wend (wends) | 99 comments Well done Mods. A thought could we rotate each category per month?

message 36: by Renee (new)

Renee M | 434 comments Mod
Do you mean just the group read or a focus of the month? (Which would include the group read?)

message 37: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
That sounds like a good idea-having a theme of the month, including the group read. That would help focus the books for the nominations too.

message 38: by Jenny, Makeing a world of books (new)

Jenny Clark | 989 comments Mod
I like that idea, the whole month, including group reads, to have a theme. Why don't we start it next month and choose a theme we have not had as a group read yet?

message 39: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
Sounds good to me. I notice that there were two nominations for science fiction books, so maybe we could with that theme.

message 40: by Jenny, Makeing a world of books (new)

Jenny Clark | 989 comments Mod
Yea, as long as this month does not end up being Sci Fi

message 41: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
What ever the group chooses is okay with me. I like all the categories.

message 42: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
The books we have read so far have been in these categories:

Love- The Good Soldier, Madame Bovary
Family and Self - The Bell Jar
State of the Nation - A Passage to India

message 43: by Renee (new)

Renee M | 434 comments Mod
We could start post a list...

January- Family & Self: The Bell Jar
February- State of the Nation: A Passage To India
March- Love: The Good Soldier
April- SciFi: ?
May-

And just pick up from there.
(I don't know when for Madame Bovary.)

message 44: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
Madame Bovary was in December.

message 45: by Jenny, Makeing a world of books (new)

Jenny Clark | 989 comments Mod
OK, so we have War and Travel, Crime and Comedy that have not been group reads yet. So, I think we ought to make the order
Love, Family and Self, State of The nation, Sci Fy and Fantasy, Comedy, Crime, War and Travel and then repeat it. What do you ladies think?

message 46: by Renee (new)

Renee M | 434 comments Mod
Sounds good. :)

message 47: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
Sounds good to me too.

message 48: by Camille (new)

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) Agreed :-)

message 49: by Jenny, Makeing a world of books (new)

Jenny Clark | 989 comments Mod
Cool sounds like a plan then :)

message 50: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 1078 comments Mod
I was scrolling through the comedy list and found a book by Graham Greene, Our Man in Havanna.
I was going to pick it, but the description describes a thriller , not a funny book. The other lists that is on are all spy or thriller books.
I am mentioning this now, so we don't forget about it when the suitable category comes up.
