Was anyone else bitterly disappointed by the end of this book?

Readthy Book I listened to the books on audible last year and to be honest I don't even remember the ending. That's how little it impacted me.

Catherine Bailey Did you see a prequel has been released? Beneath the Keep. So some further resolution perhaps?

meghan I don’t know if anyone’s going to see this, it looks like it’s been a while since this thread was active.

But I finished the series last night and I was so disappointed! It felt like a way to just quickly wrap up the series without having to worry about finishing any of the plot lines - all the plot lines felt rushed and hastily completed and none of the characters got the ending they deserved.

Breandan McGeough Can someone please tell me there is more to this ending than a mid sentence where Kelsea bumps into father Tyler at the end? The ending was awful either way but I’m hoping I was extra unlucky and got a copy with the last page ripped out. Based on these comments no ones mentioned it ends mid sentence too so I’m guessing it was ripped even though I ordered it off amazon! My last paragraph reads:

“Gods house,” kelsea murmured. She hasn’t even noticed the tiny cross on the roof of the building behind her. Father Tyler’s face was pale, but not the thin, starved pallor that kelsea remembered; she would wager that this father”

That’s it. End of book. No more pages after this at all. Not even a thank you to mum and dad and everyone else that helped give us this terrible trilogy lol

Dajah jones I finished this book months ago and whenever I think about Javel and Allie and the ending I die on the inside. Idk why I latched onto him the way I did but he's the first character who's pain I felt so intensely.

And the ending is just...yeesh. YEESH. GOOD LORD.

It sounds like your copy was missing a few pages. I found the ebook on the library through Hoopla. There's more to the Father/Brother Tyler conversation and then a bit at the library with Carlin, and a few pages of acknowledgements and things.

I love your ending so much more, but don't kill Pen, come one what did the poor guy do other than loving Kelsey, they should end up together, Kelsey falls madly in love with him

Susie Tunks Here it is, February, 2023, and I'm so glad I found a place to feel validated and commiserated with re: ending of book 3. I hadn't understood why I was so disappointed last night when I read the last page and closed the book, stunned and sad. But after reading all your comments, I got in touch with it! I needed closure with Aisa and Mace! Pen, too, I guess. And it felt like the rug had been pulled out from under me, because there were so many good messages regarding sacrifices and playing the long game in honor and commitment; then the cop-out, time-switch took that all away without sorting it all out, coming to a solid end, lessons learned...or not, which would have been fine too! Aisa! We love you, dear child!
