Katie Ok, I just finished reading the whole darn series a few days ago, and to be quite honest with myself, I understand where the hardcore haters are coming from on this.
That doesn't mean I hate the series, but....I just didn't like this series.
But before I start my rant, anyone have any opinions to share?

Allison I tend to agree. I started out loving it, but by the time I got to the end I could not remember why I even started reading it to begin with! I think Breaking Dawn is what killed it for me- hybrid baby drama and an epic battle that never actually happens...just, why?

message 3: by Lev (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lev I personally liked this series and I reread it this year and still thought it was good. But the reason I loved this series so much and still continue to love it because it was the gate way book series to my now favorite genre, paranormal romance. I think the writing in this book sucks though and there are many other better paranormal romance books such as The Vampire Academy series and Beautiful Creatures series. But while we are talking about Twilight, Breaking Dawn completely ruined it for me because that book sucked! The movies were amazing though for Breaking Dawn.

I happen to like this series, and Breaking Dawn is my favorite. I thin for me it was one of the first series that actually got me into reading. Yes, there are parts of it that are a little weird, but overall it's a good series.

Hazar Mobarkey I Loved the first book.
The second book was very good.
The third one was not bad.
The forth was was .. meeeh.

I don't know why everyone doesn't like Breaking Dawn, it happen to be one of my favorites.

Chrysann In the interest of perfect honesty, I don't HATE the books. They were mildly amusing and an acceptable way to kill a few hours apiece. Yes, they became progressively less good as we moved on, but aside from the massive emo fit that was book 2 they were generally all right. My hate is reserved for the ridiculous amount of hype that tries to play up the series as some sort of groundbreaking material that blows everything else out of the water. It really doesn't. It is a passable read if you don't have high expectations and that's about it.

message 8: by Saving People, Hunting Things~ The Family Business (last edited Jul 02, 2014 12:20PM) (new)

Saving People, Hunting Things~ The Family Business I don't hate the books, I just don't like them.
I think that Bella and Edward's relationship is very unhealthy. He stalks her, breaks into her house and watches her sleep and leaves her in the forest when he decides to break up with her. He also was willing to make her go through an abortion without her consent.
He is really possessive and jealous, and Bella is very dependent on him. She isolates herself when he moves away and exposes herself to danger just to see a glimpse of him in her mind.
I was also really unimpressed with the author making Jacob imprint with Renesmee. Instead of developing more into the character and seeing his growth after being rejected, and getting more depth into the were wolves and the vampires politics and the reasons for their dislikes of each other. The author made romance the primary link to get the vampires and were wolfs to work together.
I would have prefer to see the Cullen's trying to convince the shape-shifters to help or they fighting the Volturi with the allies that they already got.

Dramapuppy Yeah. I thought the first one was actually okay. The second one was bad. I couldn't read the third one. It was too painful. And I never thought a series written by a woman could be sexist but this one manages.

Edacheeky I think only or mainly people that are hopeless romantics will like the Twilight Saga.
The Twilight Saga can be annoying at points but I still enjoyed reading it a lot because it was addictive and I'm a hopeless romantic.

Elizabeth Johnson I am a hopeless romantic and I just loved the way Edward loved her. That said, I think the thing to remember is that this books are YA books and they did the job they were meant to do. I read them all in a space of two weeks and I enjoyed reading all of it.
