Read this book about 10 years ago, could be older.
Britain, WWII time, christian family lives next door to Jewish pawn broker. One of twin sisters falls in love with son of pawn broker, relationship needs to remain secret.
Jewish man goes to war, fights along side another admirer of girl. Jewish man dies, after asking other man to look after the girl. The other man gets hurt, and gets nursed, and eventually marries the girl.
Other fact: the other twin sister dies as well.
Other fact: the girls have a younger brother who works for the Jewish family on sabbath day. The brother gets accused of theft.
