Reading Schedule
Hey I'll be popping in and out as well for the rest of the day. What have we got so far? Any suggested reads to do?
Oh yes, I have seen that. So these will be monthly reads? And the suggested series that we were discussing about reading together? Would we set aside a certain month to do that, or over the span of a couple of months (e.g. a whole season like all of spring) to read it alongside the BOTM?
Yes and we can come up with different read-a-thons and find different themes for the readathons. That means that you would have to read books that are in that certain category. We would set out a couple of months for the series. We would also read the BOTM along with it, yes. We can also pick different dates for readathons and different things. Sorry this so long.
No, no, this is good. Hashing out the details now is important. Okay, so we can do a series specific readathon, and a theme-based readathon (of unrelated books by different authors?). When would you think the first one should start? I know the first BOTM is currently being voted (for February?). Want to wait till March to start a series readathon?
The BOTM is for March. For the theme based readathon would be unrelated books by different authors, yes. I think sometime next month. Yeah definitely start the series readathon in March.
All right, awesome. So should we come up with a couple of series or theme-based ideas and let people vote on them as well? Or just decide amongst ourselves here?

That is totally okay. We didn't make any huge decsions

Okay I'm going to just throw out some ideas before I head to bed for tonight. Series based:
-Study series by Maria V. Snyder
-White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter
or these above can be integrated into themed-based ones:
-Assassin themed (includes Study series; potentially Throne of Glass series; Nevernight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff)
-Alice in Wonderland themed (includes White Rabbit Chronicles; trilogies like Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes and Splintered by A.G. Howard)
Okay, that's feasible. Now, how long would we set for doing this readathon? Not everyone reads as fast (or has as much time for reading) as others in the group. If we include all those mentioned in the assassin-themed category above, the breakdown number of books is this:
-Study series: 6
-Throne of Glass series: 5
-Nevernight Chronicles: soon-to-be 2
How long would you think it would take to get through these together (keeping in mind that we want more people to be able to do this in that time span)?

It's by Jay Kristoff! Nevernight (book 1) came out last year but I didn't get a chance to read it yet. The main character fits the bill of "assassin". Book 2 is coming out September I think. If we read this last, we might just make it when it comes outs!

I haven't yet but hoping to read it this year :)

@Rachel, when should we read the TOG series. I am going to start the rest of them this month, so that they will count for one of my challenges.

Could we start like at the end of the month because I am in the middle of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone series

I think to accommodate readers going at a different pace, we can set the timeline for the different books to be read over certain months, but if they're read earlier by some, that's okay as long as they remember enough details to contribute chats about it during the appropriate, set time. And there's also the new re-reading counts here that might still make it into the year's reading challenge again if re-read (though I don't know for sure since I haven't tested it)
Yeah we could. Sounds like a good plan if we want directed discussions about those specific topics. But maybe keep them locked until that series reaches its appointed schedule for discussion?
I can't do the TOG series at the end of the month. I need them to count for my challenge, which is for this month.
I was also thinking about options of series to read. How about
,
,
, this is the first 3 of a series that has at least 9 books or so. Lots of possibilities for scheduling some interesting options on the reading schedule.
Awesome! Should we set up an event for this so everyone knows to start getting their hands on Replica for March?
